Our Leadership IQ study of 20,000 new hires (reported in Fortune and Forbes) found
that the number one reason why new hires fail is that they are not coachable. A high
performance workplace is dependent upon employees that have the ability to accept and
implement feedback from bosses, colleagues, customers and other key players. There is
no point in investing time and energy in people who are not going to positively respond.
Doing so is a time consuming and exhausting exercise in futility.
Postgraduate surgical examinations take the form of multiple-choice
questions, viva voce examinations and clinicals. In all the Royal Colleges,
a key component of the first two of these sections is critical care. This
book is a companion to Surgical Critical Care, by Robert Ashford and
Neal Evans, published by Greenwich Medical Media Ltd in 2001, and
examines all aspects of the subject that may be assessed.

This paper addresses the problem of automatically retrieving answers for how-to questions, focusing on those that inquire about the procedure for achieving a specific goal. For such questions, typical information retrieval methods, based on key word matching, are better suited to detecting the content of the goal (e.g., ‘installing a Windows XP server’) than the general nature of the desired information (i.e., procedural, a series of steps for achieving this goal).
In Information Retrieval (IR) in general and Question Answering (QA) in particular, queries and relevant textual content often significantly differ in their properties and are therefore difficult to relate with traditional IR methods, e.g. key-word matching. In this paper we describe an algorithm that addresses this problem, but rather than looking at it on a term matching/term reformulation level, we focus on the syntactic differences between questions and relevant text passages.
Key questions included the
effectiveness of volunteer outreach workers, VIA for screening, and cryotherapy
performed by nurses. In order to generate enough screen-positive women being referred
to the district hospital for triage testing and treatment, the recruitment goal for this phase
was about 1,400 women. Workshops were held at national, provincial, and district level
in March 2002 to report preliminary results from the first 1,170 eligible women screened.
By the end of the pilot phase about 1,600 women had been screened....
