  • If you’ve looked at a few 8051 datasheets, other 8051 books or flicked through the chapters in this guide, you may be left thinking that it is necessary to be an 8051 expert to produce workable programs with C51. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is perfectly possible to write real commercial programs with nothing more than a reasonable knowledge of the ISO C language and some appreciation of hardware. However, to get the maximum performance from the 8051 family, knowing a few tricks is very useful. This is particularly true if you are working on a very cost-sensitive...

Indeed, good knowledge of return volatility is crucial for portfolio choice, risk management and derivatives asset pricing. Perhaps the most robust empirical regularity of stock return volatility is volatility clustering. As …rst noted by Mandelbrot (1963) when referring to stock market returns, "large changes tend to be followed by large changes, of either sign, and small changes tend to be followed by small changes".

  • Neural induction is a complex process and the detailed mechanism of FGF-induced neurogenesis remains unclear. Methods: By using a serum-free neural induction method, we showed that FGF1 dose-dependently promoted the induction of Sox1/N-cadherin/nestin triple positive cells, which represent primitive neuroblasts, from mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells. Results: We demonstrated that FGF1, FGF2, and FGF4, but not FGF8b, enhanced this neurogenesis. Especially, FGFenhanced neurogenesis is not mediated through the rescue of the apoptosis or the enhancement of the proliferation of Sox1+ cells.
