We propose a new approach for the creation of child language development metrics. A set of linguistic features is computed on child speech samples and used as input in two age prediction experiments. In the first experiment, we learn a child-specific metric and predicts the ages at which speech samples were produced. We then learn a more general developmental index by applying our method across children, predicting relative temporal orderings of speech samples.
Assembly Bill 748, enacted in 1997, requires
that the test or tests assessing the progress of
English learners toward achieving fluency in
English be aligned with state standards for
English-language development. The San
Diego County Office of Education, under
contract with the Standards and Assessment
Division of the California Department of
Education, named an advisory committee of
state and national leaders to assist in the
development of the English-language development
This paper examines the positive aspects and potential problems in the discourse of transition from summative to formative assessment of oral language development of Chinese secondary students. The discussion includes concepts such as teacher observation, feedback, testing, and the views of teachers on oral language summative assessment.
The paper reports on progress in building computational models of a constructivist approach to language development. It introduces a formalism for construction grammars and learning strategies based on invention, abduction, and induction. Examples are drawn from experiments exercising the model in situated language games played by embodied artificial agents. b

Since 1996, ASP programmers have faced one upgrade after another, often with no
extremely visible advantages until version 3.x—it’s been quite a wild ride. Now we
have the first significant improvement in ASP programming within our grasp—
ASP.NET.Our reliance on a watered-down version of Visual Basic has been alleviated
now that ASP.NET pages may be programmed in both Microsoft’s new and
more powerful version of Visual Basic or the latest version of C++: C#, which is
more Web friendly.ASP.NET allows programmers and developers to work with both
