The purpose of this book is to assist students in their study of
criminal law and it is aimed primarily at those who are studying
on degree courses and courses leading to professional
examinations. It is not intended to replace standard textbooks,
law reports and academic journals but to complement them by
providing illustrations of answers to typical examination and
course assessment questions.
The development of administrative law is a prominent feature of the Australian
legal landscape. The importance of this subject is highlighted by the fact that it is
stipulated as a ‘core’ subject in the syllabi of many, if not most, law schools. One
needs only to peruse the cases reported in the main law reports to appreciate its
significance as a large area of legal practice.
In this volume of essays, the contributors examine a number of fundamental
topics of practical and doctrinal importance.

Proper forms of abbreviations are required by courts for all submitted legal documents. Abbreviations of courts and publications used in legal citation are often completely inscrutable, akin to trying to decipher hieroglyphics. Before you can track down a publication in a citation, you need to figure out its complete title.
The U.S. legal system is admired around
the world for the freedoms it allows the
individual and the fairness with which it
attempts to treat all persons. On the surface, it
may seem simple, yet those who have delved
into it know that this system of federal and
state constitutions, statutes, regulations, and
common-law decisions is elaborate and complex.
It derives from the English common law,
but includes principles older than England,
along with some principles from other lands.
Two centuries ago, in his celebrated work Disquisitiones Arithmeticae of 1801, Gauss laid down the beautiful law of composition of integral binary quadratic forms which would play such a critical role in number theory in the decades to follow. Even today, two centuries later, this law of composition still remains one of the primary tools for understanding and computing with the class groups of quadratic orders. It is hence only natural to ask whether higher analogues of this composition law exist that could shed light on the structure of other algebraic number rings and fields. ...

In our first article we developed a new view of Gauss composition of binary quadratic forms which led to several new laws of composition on various other spaces of forms. Moreover, we showed that the groups arising from these composition laws were closely related to the class groups of orders in quadratic number fields, while the spaces underlying those composition laws were closely related to certain exceptional Lie groups.
Let Γ be a principal congruence subgroup of SLn (Z) and let σ be an Γ irreducible unitary representation of SO(n). Let Ncus (λ, σ) be the counting function of the eigenvalues of the Casimir operator acting in the space of cusp forms for Γ which transform under SO(n) according to σ. In this paper we Γ prove that the counting function Ncus (λ, σ) satisfies Weyl’s law. Especially, this implies that there exist infinitely many cusp forms for the full modular group SLn (Z).
