‘In my experience a major shortcoming of most “how to” books on leadership
and management is that they purport to offer “Silver Bullets” – magical solutions
that, once revealed, will enrich and transform the reader and his or her
organisation. Regrettably, business life is not that simple. Rather, it is characterised
by uncertainty and lack of precedent and complicated by the different
wants, needs and motivations of people.
Today’s challenge to business leadership is ensuring profitability while doing the right thing using environmentally sustainable methods. It is possible for business leaders to make money, engage in ethical leadership, and participate in preserving the environment for future generations. It is possible to fit these ideas together, but it is not easy.
Environmentalists and business leaders have traditionally seen themselves at odds. But the concepts of business, ethics, and the environment can be aligned to create innovation rather than legislation and litigation.
While midnight festivities still echoed the ether was electrified as European air navigation
services providers subconscious minds merged on January 1
2012 hoping that they will
perform in accordance with the expectations of the just-born performance scheme. Is this an
overture to the page-turner of success or endless soap-opera of debacle?
Nobody yet invented the universal formula that govern the provision of air navigation
services for any given combination of air traffic flow, its variability and complexity,
airspace configuration and operational environment.

The Environmental Quality Laboratory (EQL) traces its origins to a series of discussions initiated by Caltech President Harold Brown on the feasibility of a Caltech Air Pollution Laboratory aimed at alleviating the smog problem in the South Coast Air Basin. In an address to the Institute for the Advancement of Engineering on February 28, 1970, Dr. Brown summarized the main conclusions of a faculty-JPL study group on smog led by Professor Carver Mead that preceded the formation of the EQL.
t has produced a rigorous and qualitative overview of the problems of rural schooling in the context of rural poverty. Through it, the reader comes to understand better the complexity of the problems of rural communities and schooling and the importance of listening to the voices of the rural poor. It makes clear that there are no magic solutions but does point to a singular conclusion that, the great majority of children in rural poor communities are receiving less than is their right in a democratic South Africa. Worse still, is the fact that this will...
The logframe is the main output of the LFA. Before describing the
logframe in detail, however, it is worth making a cautionary note.
The logframe, for all its advantages when clearly understood and
professionally applied, provides no magic solution to identifying or
designing good projects. The principle of ‘garbage in, garbage out’
can apply to the logframe if it is used mechanistically. When used
properly the logframe helps to make the logical relationships between
activities, results, purpose and objectives more transparent, at least to
the informed user....
As populations increase and countries industrialize, the world’s
demand for energy increases. Our supply of petroleum and gas is limited,
but the photovoltaic cell offers a solution to the problem of a future energy
shortage. This cell is already an important source of energy. In fact, it seems
almost like magic. The photovoltaic cell changes sunlight directly into
energy. Solar energy – energy from the sun – is clean, easily available,
inexhaustible, and free, if the equipment is available....
"Customer Relationship Management: The Winning Strategy in a Challenging Economy"
As the economic environment continues to fluctuate, many organizations are asking themselves what strategies they can pursue to bring tangible business benefits while taking stock of the economic conditions.
