The main reason for a fourth edition of Essential MATLAB for Engineers and
Scientists is to keep up with MATLAB, now in its latest version (7.7 Version
2008B). Like the previous editions, this one presents MATLAB as a problemsolving
tool for professionals in science and engineering, as well as students in
those fields, who have no prior knowledge of computer programming.
The main purpose in planning a third edition of this book was to upgrade it to
cover the latest version of MATLAB (Version 7.2 Release 2006a).
The other purpose was to maintain the objectives of the late Brian D. Hahn as
stated in the prefaces of the first and second edition. In his prefaces to the

CHAPTER ONE MATLAB FUNDAMENTALS MATLAB is a numeric computation software for engineering and scientific calculations. The name MATLAB stands for MATRIX LABORATORY. MATLAB is primarily a tool for matrix computations. It was developed by John Little and Cleve Moler of MathWorks, Inc. MATLAB was originally written to provide easy access to the matrix computation software packages LINPACK and EISPACK. MATLAB is a high-level language whose basic data type is a matrix that does not require dimensioning. There is no compilation and linking as is done in high-level languages, such as C or FORTRAN.

The basic concepts of signals and systems arise in a variety of contexts, from engineering

ROM size of the present design is still very large. Hence a 7th order with 8 coefficients having 28=256 look up table values is implemented. Coefficients designed by the ‘fdatool’ of the MATLAB are:-0.027, -0.013, 0.004, 0.012, 0.012, 0.004, -0.013 and -0.027.

Real estate investment is about creating and adding value through the effective
