This is why, in the State of the Union address, President Barroso called for new thinking for
Europe – to draw the consequences of the challenges we are now facing and that are
fundamentally changing our world. There can be no growth without reform and no way of
confronting our challenges unless we do it together. The State of the Union speech launched
ambitious ideas for the long term framing of the EU – a deep and genuine economic union,
based on a political union.
The success with organic foods depends on consumer acceptance and use. Potential
consumers may not even be aware of organic foods or may have the wrong perception
even when aware. More knowledge could lead to increased use of organics due to the link
between awareness and purchases. Briz and Ward (2009) argue that while awareness is
based on consciousness, consumption requires an explicit buying commitment that
should be influenced by price and appropriate measure(s) of the organic quality. These
may be important attributes to consider increasing organic food consumption.
Malware-type clickbots infect machines in order to achieve
IP diversity, and their traffic may or may not be as easily iden-
tifiable as that generated by for-sale clickbots. Clickbot.A is
a malware-type clickbot, and is identified as a trojan by some
anti-virus packages. The result of a VirusTOTAL scan, which
runs various anti-virus scanners, on the Clickbot.A binary pro-
duced the results shown in Table 1 in the Appendix, as noted
by SANS handler Swa Frantzen .
Many of the popular virus scanners includingMcAfee, Sophos,
and Symantec did not detect that Clickbot.
We establish three identities involving Dyck paths and alternating Motzkin
paths, whose proofs are based on variants of the same bijection. We interpret
these identities in terms of closed random walks on the halfline. We explain how
these identities arise from combinatorial interpretations of certain properties of the
-Hermite and -Laguerre ensembles of random matrix theory. We conclude by
presenting two other identities obtained in the same way, for which finding combinatorial
proofs is an open problem....
Until recent years, cultivars’ identification was based only on morphological and agronomic
traits. However, recognition of olive cultivars based on phenotypic characters revealed to be
problematic, especially in early stages of tree development. Traditionally diversity within
and between olive tree cultivars was determined by assessing differences in olive tree,
namely leaf shape and color, and olive fruits morphology.
LSI’s CAM content is based upon the unique and proprietary Alternative Health Grid Matrix Technology.
The uniqueness of this matrix is the horizontal human anatomy; each organ is virtually integrated horizontally
from one single button to each of the 15 alternative healing modalities. In addition, each modality is
supported by references from leading medical literature, not eastern philosophy.
LSI has taken the above system and then using the body-organ to disease-organ architecture, has
created a duplicable, repeatable engine for every other modality.
This section concludes with a few “interesting facts” emerging from the HPDD and
showcasing the richness of the database. The largest single-year debt ratio increases (in
percentage points) for the G-20 advanced countries occurred in two years associated with
World War I and II—by 22 percentage points of GDP in 1944 and by 14 percentage points in
1919—and also in 2009, when public debt rose by 13 percentage points of GDP. The largest
single-year declines occurred in 1969 (-7 percentage points) and 2000 (-3 percentage points).
We report on an investigation of the pragmatic category of topic in Danish dialog and its correlation to surface features of NPs. Using a corpus of 444 utterances, we trained a decision tree system on 16 features. The system achieved nearhuman performance with success rates of 84–89% and F 1 -scores of 0.63–0.72 in 10fold cross validation tests (human performance: 89% and 0.78). The most important features turned out to be preverbal position, definiteness, pronominalisation, and non-subordination. We discovered that NPs in epistemic matrix clauses (e.g. “I think . . .
The Kenya Working Papers series is an unreviewed, unedited prepublication series of papers
reporting on studies in progress. This paper is based on further analysis of data collected in the
2004 Kenya HIV/AIDS and Maternal and Child Health Service Provision Assessment (KSPA).
The 2004 KSPA was supported by the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the U.K. Department for
International Development (DFID).
One method of addressing personal fi nances among students of higher education is
through college- and university-based fi nancial education programs. In recent years,
there has been a growth in the number of these programs, which vary widely in their
composition. Some schools offer individual fi nancial counseling services for students,
while others provide presentations and workshops relative to personal fi nance
topics; others provide websites with links to fi nancial content.
The exposure-response function (quantitative variation of a health outcome per unit of pollutant
load) was derived by a meta-analytical assessment of various (international) studies selected from the
peer-reviewed epidemiological literature. The effect estimate (gradient) was calculated as the variance
weighted average across the results of all studies included in the meta-analysis.
In this project, the impact of air pollution on mortality is based on the long-term effect.
This document is a report from the Technical Committee of the California Internet Voting Task Force. It
contains a technical analysis of the communication and security issues inherent in Internet voting, along
with recommended privacy and security requirements for any Internet voting systems fielded in California.
This report also deals with potential Internet-based voter registration systems and, briefly, with Internet
petition-signing systems as well.
This demonstration presents the LinGO Grammar Matrix grammar customization system: a repository of distilled linguistic knowledge and a web-based service which elicits a typological description of a language from the user and yields a customized grammar fragment ready for sustained development into a broad-coverage grammar. We describe the implementation of this repository with an emphasis on how the information is made available to users, including in-browser testing capabilities.
For this tutorial, you must install ArcGIS Desktop (ArcEditor or ArcInfo license level), SQL Server Express,
and the ArcTutor data for this tutorial on your computer. Use the ArcSDE for SQL Server Express
Installation wizard provided on the ArcGIS Desktop installation media to install an instance of SQL Server
Express and enable it to create ArcSDE geodatabases. To complete the installation, follow the
instructions in the ArcSDE for SQL Server Express installation guide, which is also included with the
ArcGIS Desktop media.
Alberta Environment (AENV), as the systems coordinator for environmental outcomes,
will be required to develop environmental policy and standards that support outcomes
for the environment and maintain a delivery role for certain activities and sectors.
Alberta Environment will collaborate with many departments to integrate the variety of
policies and roles that contribute to environmental outcomes. This includes ministries,
boards and agencies that regulate activities that affect the environment (e.g.
We propose CMSMs, a novel type of generic compositional models for syntactic and semantic aspects of natural language, based on matrix multiplication. We argue for the structural and cognitive plausibility of this model and show that it is able to cover and combine various common compositional NLP approaches ranging from statistical word space models to symbolic grammar formalisms.
Most of the existing multi-document summarization methods decompose the documents into sentences and work directly in the sentence space using a term-sentence matrix. However, the knowledge on the document side, i.e. the topics embedded in the documents, can help the context understanding and guide the sentence selection in the summarization procedure. In this paper, we propose a new Bayesian sentence-based topic model for summarization by making use of both the term-document and term-sentence associations. ...
While almost all the students who volunteered to participate in this study acknowledged in the
interviews that their primary motivation for participation was the hope that they could achieve the
coveted score of at least 7.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, as well as an Overall score
of 7.0 – the English language proficiency requirement for an application for an Australian Skilled
Independent Resident visa in 2010 or for Nursing Registration – only six out of the 40 students
managed to do so. Of these six, four had already achieved an Overall score of 7.0 or 7.
