This volume aims to provide the fundamental knowledge to appreciate the advantages of the J-matrix method and to encourage its use and further development. The J-matrix method is an algebraic method of quantum scattering with substantial success in atomic and nuclear physics. The accuracy and convergence property of the method compares favourably with other successful scattering calculation methods. Despite its thirty-year long history new applications are being found for the J-matrix method.
There is a need for
development of new diagnostic tools to allow earlier detection of active disease, predict
disease progression and evaluate the response to periodontal therapy, thereby improving
the clinical management of patients with periodontal diseases. Advances in periodontal
diseases diagnostic research are moving toward methods whereby periodontal risk can be
identified and quantified by objective measures such as biomarkers.
It is intended that this book be suitable for a variety of engineers and ecologists, who
may wish to gain an introduction to the rapidly growing field of ecological and
environmental modelling. An understanding of the fundamentals of environmental
problems and ecology, as presented for instance in the textbook Principles of
Environmental Science and Technology is assumed. Furthermore, it is assumed that
the reader has either a fundamental knowledge of differential equations and matrix
calculations or has read the Appendix, which gives a brief introduction to these

The use of ethanol for fuel was widespread in Europe and the United States
until the early 1900s (Illinois Corn Growers’ Association/Illinois Corn
Marketing Board). Because it became more expensive to produce than
petroleum-based fuel, especially after World War II, ethanol’s potential was
largely ignored until the Arab oil embargo of the 1970s. One response to the
embargo was increased use of the fuel extender “gasohol ” (or E-10), a
mixture of one part ethanol made from corn mixed with nine parts gasoline.
The scores in Test 1 and Test 2 of the 40 student participants are illustrated in Figures 1 to 5 in regard
to Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking and Overall scores. In Test 1, the Listening score obtained
by the greatest number (12 students) was 6.5, while in Test 2 it was a score of 7.5 (16 students). A
similar pattern applied in Reading. In Test 1, the score obtained by the greatest number (12 students)
was also 6.5, while in Test 2 it was a score of 7.5 (10 students). In Writing, the scores were somewhat
lower. In Test 1,...
(BQ) Ebook An Introduction to Programming and Numerical Methods in MATLAB provides an introduction to the numerical methods that are typically encountered (and used) in science and engineering undergraduate courses. The material is developed in tandem with matlab which allows rapid prototyping and testing of the methods. The package matlab (matrix laboratory) pro vides an environment in which students can learn to programme and explore the structure of the numerical methods.

Picocyanobacteria are a diverse and widespread
group of photosynthetic prokaryotes and belong to the main group of primary producers
(Castenholz & Waterbury. 1989; Rippka, 1988). Picoeukaryotes, meanwhile, are a diverse
group that is widely distributed in the marine environment, and they have a fundamental
role in aquatic ecosystems because of their high productivity. Like bacteria, marine viruses
are thought to play important roles in global and small-scale biogeochemical cycling.
Welcome to the Authoritative and Leading Edge Content for Sustainable
Development. The practice of sustainable development is becoming widespread in all
industries around the globe today, and both small and large firms are realizing the
benefits provided by sustainability. The World Commission on Environment and
Development defines sustainable development as “development that meets the needs
of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their
One key advantage to starting a forex fund is that the fund manager can legally accept
compensation for his or her trading and advisory services. In many cases, the fund manager can
legally advertise their services as well. This compensation can provide an excellent supplement
to an existing income or it may allow trader to work as a paid forex adviser on a full-time basis.
In our experience, many forex new fund managers also keep their "day jobs" for a while until
they are certain this is the business they want to be in. Market conditions have never been better...
In an attempt to glean potential trends, this study divides the subjects of the 641
filings into categories based in part on their occupation and in part on their relation-
ship to the insurance or investment product involved in the transaction. The data is
derived from several sources on the SAR-SF: the narrative section (Part VI), Field 7
(“Occupation or Type of Business”), and Field 19 (“Is this individual/business associated/
affiliated with the reporting financial institution?”).
The study characterizes the subjects based on their relationship to the insurance
Regarding banks’ capital structures, the standard view is that capital regulation
constitutes an additional, overriding departure from the Modigliani-Miller irrelevance
proposition (see for example Berger et al., 1995, Miller, 1995, or Santos, 2001). Commercial
banks have deposits that are insured to protect depositors and to ensure financial stability. In
order to mitigate the moral-hazard of this insurance, commercial banks must be required to
hold a minimum amount of capital.

Instead, after writing to Congress falsely claiming they
had never paid for brand placement, in 1989 the tobacco industry
won the chance to self-police a voluntary no-payola policy.
Apparently, that meant the tobacco companies could also
decide when to start abiding by their own policy (cigar companies
did not bother to make a similar pledge until 1997)....
The class will contain a mixture of standard lectures, guest speakers, and case
discussions. Topics covered will span the real estate equity and debt markets, both public and
private. The bulk of the course focuses on commercial or income-producing real estate, but we
will spend some time studying the housing markets. Grading will be based on five assignments
that will constitute 90% of your final grade. There are four longer cases and one shorter case.
Case #3 constitutes 10% of your grade. The other four cases each constitute 20% of your grade. ...

The Application Rules page lets you define which applications on the user computer should
have access to the network and which should not. You can see the list of the most common
network-enabled applications organized in groups by the type of their activity.
While applying configuration, Outpost Network Security Client identifies the applications
installed on the client computer with those specified in the configuration using the specified
matching criteria and, if the match is found, creates the corresponding rules for the application. ...
Of course, credit expansion for reasons beyond economic merit might for a while help
increasing economic growth. If credit expansion works toward the extension of productive
capacity, this process might go on for an extended period of time, even if borrowers in the
long run will not be able to pay back their loan. The downside in this case is the accumulation
of non-performing loans in the banking sector which in the end might lead to high fiscal cost.
This might actually be what has been observed in China: One could argue that a non-trivial
part of the loans by...
