Digital library is commonly seen as a type of information retrieval system which stores and accesses digital content remotely via computer networks. However, the vision of digital libraries is not limited to technology or management, but user experience. This book is an attempt to share the practical experiences of solutions to the operation of digital libraries. To indicate interdisciplinary routes towards successful applications, the chapters in this book explore the implication of digital libraries from the perspectives of design, operation, and promotion....
The total undisbursed balance is UA 1,498,427of which UA 1.0 million has been committed to financing the Procurement Agent of the ZIMFUND and the balance has been committed to support other capacity building activities (Annex 3).With the utilization of this balance, there are no additional resources available to Zimbabwe in the current ADF 12 cycle. This notwithstanding, the Government has requested for technical assistance support in other areas including Public Financial Management and Public Private Partnership frameworks (Annex 4).
The success of MIPIM Asia’s sixth edition last
year confi rmed the dynamism of the Asian
property market and the fact that the show is
now the international event for major real estate
companies operating within the region or seeking
to work internationally with Asia Pacifi c players.
The emerging presence of retailers refl ected
Asia Pacifi c’s potential for retail expansions and
the attractiveness of retail real estate.
Most certainly, Latinas are facing a serious health care crisis that threatens to undermine the reproductive health and
overall well-being of themselves, their families and their communities. Despite the growing number of uninsured Latinas
and the significant health disparities they face, health policy makers have paid little attention to the reproductive health
needs of Latinas. Against this backdrop, we are also witnessing an onslaught of attacks on the reproductive freedom of
women in this country that will no doubt disproportionately impact Latinas.
The relative peace following the common position among government officials and
representatives of EU institutions was suddenly put into question on 17 October. At
that date the President of the European Commission Romano Prodi declared that
excessively strict rules are not sensible and the rigid implementation of the Pact is
“stupid,” as all rigid decisions.
Woodford (2000) has shown that the problem is more complex than fiscal versus monetary
dominance. Faithful adherence to an anti-inflation monetary rule may not by itself be
sufficient to ensure price stability – because government policy frameworks may engender
fiscal expectations that are inconsistent with stable prices.
The conclusion from this brief summary of these perspectives from economic theory is that
there is no agreed view about the impact of government debt on the long-term interest rates.
Although there have been clear improvements in the delivery of specific health
services, many of the systemic problems facing the U.S. child health system seem
intractable and resistant to incremental reform strategies. Both the 1981 report of
the Select Panel for the Promotion of Child Health and the 1991 report of the Na-
tional Commission on Children highlighted numerous system-level problems re-
lated to fragmented programs, disjointed and inadequate funding streams, inade-
quate performance monitoring, and the lack of a coherent planning framework.
Several key terms that are used throughout this report bear mention. The two most
significant related terms for subsets of “credit rating agencies” are “nationally recognised
statistical rating organisations” (NRSROs), which are regulated by the United States
Securities and Exchange Commission (US SEC), and “external credit assessment
institutions” (ECAIs), a term set forth in the Basel II framework.
Our methodology is based on a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE)
calibrated model augmented with endogenous market structures in line with recent
developments in the macroeconomic literature (see Etro, 2009, for a survey). This
model is perturbed with a realistic structural change to the cost structure, with the
purpose to study the short and long term reactions of the economy. Therefore, our
methodology is based on a solid theoretical framework and provides results that
can be easily replicated by economists. However, it has some limitations that we
need to point out.
As the project unfolds, the manager can track tasks that are on schedule,
those that are lagging and those that are critical. At the end of the project, the
manager can go back over the project plan to see what was close to the mark
and what needs improvement in the future.
This is but a fraction of what Project Management Software can do for
complex management assignments. While many, if not most PR practitioners
do not use such software today, it may make sense to look into it and to see if
your organization can...

This initiative has been presented in the framework of a number of relevant international initiatives of organisations, such as the OECD, the United Nations and the European Commission. Moreover, European Directive 2000/31/EC of 8 June 2000 (OJEC L 178 of 17 July 2000) encourages professional bodies and associations to establish codes of conduct at Community level. As a supplement to legislation, the Orgalime Principles of Conduct in electronic commerce contain provisions concerning the key items designed to increase trust in Electronic Commerce.
One of the largest sources of energy flow in many buildings is the sun. We are
used to thinking of the sun in terms of providing light, which with proper
design can avoid the need for artificial lighting in buildings for the majority of
the year. In addition to light, solar heat gain through windows typically
dominates the cooling demands of commercial buildings and without
adequate control can lead to reliance on air conditioning. On the other hand,
the same energy can also be harvested for both space and water heating in
carefully designed buildings. ...
The growth and popularity of social media throughout 2011 has not shown signs of slowing down, either on a global level
or within the Arab region. Globally, Facebook still dominates, with over 800 million users worldwide, of which 50% log
in daily, while 350 million users access Facebook through mobile devices2
. Twitter, on the other hand, reached over 100
million “active users” in September 20113
, with an estimated 200 million “tweets” generated each day. Half of these active
users log in every day, although not all of them tweet.
The concept of forest sustainability dates from centuries ago, although the
understanding of sustainable forest management (SFM) as an instrument that
harmonizes ecological and socio-economic concerns is relatively new. The change in
perspective occurred at the beginning of the 1990s in response to an increased
awareness of the deterioration of the environment, in particular of the alarming loss of
forest resources. The main and most striking cause of this deterioration is the
deforestation occurring in some areas of the world.
As digital libraries and the World Wide Web (WWW) continue to grow exponentially,
the ability to find useful information will greatly depend on the associated
underlying framework of the indexing infrastructure or search engine. The push to
get information on-line must be mediated by the design of automated techniques for
extracting that information for a variety of users and needs. What algorithms and
software environments are plausible for achieving both accuracy and speed in text
Readers will find several papers that address high-level issues in the use of technology in education, for example architecture and design frameworks for building online education materials or tools. Several other chapters report novel approaches to intelligent tutors or adaptive systems in educational settings. A number of chapters consider many roles for social computing in education, from simple computer-mediated communication support to more extensive community-building frameworks and tools.
Volume 3 of the book series Biomathematical and Biomechanical Modeling of
the Circulatory and Ventilatory Systems aims at presenting major sets of signaling
receptors mainly located at the plasma membrane, 1 in a modeling framework rather
than biological perspective. Collecting signaling effectors, their main interactions,
and major properties are the first tasks required for any modeling of cell signaling
The major objective is to comprehend the complexity of natural phenomena to
model these events. In other words, to yield the maximal amount of known information
The Family Law Act 1996 will provide the framework for divorce and separation,
for mediation and for disputes involving domestic violence for many years to come.
It will be up to the family lawyers to ensure that the Act lives up to its
principles in supporting marriage and, if divorce or separation are inevitable, then
in concluding the arrangements with minimum distress to the parties and their
children and promoting a good continuing relationship.Any risk of violence is to
be removed or diminished so far as is practicable.
Hadoop is an open-source implementation of
Google’s Map/Reduce framework that enables dis-
tributed, data-intensive, parallel applications by decom-
posing a massive job into smaller tasks and a massive
data-set into smaller partitions, such that each task pro-
cesses a different partition in parallel. The main abstrac-
tions are (i) Map tasks that process the partitions of the
data-set using key/value pairs to generate a set of inter-
mediate results, and (ii) Reduce tasks that merge all in-
termediate values associated with the same intermediate
