Two aspects of animal life impressed me most during the journeys which I made in my youth in Eastern Siberia and Northern Manchuria. One of them was the extreme severity of the struggle for existence which most species of animals have to carry on against an inclement Nature; the enormous destruction of life which periodically results from natural agencies; and the consequent paucity of life over the vast territory which fell under my observation. And the other was, that even in those few spots where animal life teemed in abundance, I failed to find—although I was eagerly looking for...
One way in which agencies work together is by adopting a program known as local mutual
aid. This program allows neighboring communities to pool resources and share liability for
damages or loss of equipment. If one community needs a particular piece of equipment, it
may borrow it from a neighboring community. The equipment will become an asset of the
borrowing community and will be covered under their insurance until it is released and
returns to its home organization.
Now that we’ve reviewed the building blocks for money market funds, it’s
time to apply what you’ve learned. Imagine you’ve been given the task of
managing a large multibillion-dollar money market fund. What would you
do? Let’s give it a try. We’ll assume that the fund is a taxable general purpose
money market mutual fund.
Your responsibility to investors means that you will to do everything
you can to maintain the stable $1.00 NAV and to assure liquidity any time a
shareholder wants to withdraw cash—while providing a competitive yield.
Effective development partnerships are a priority of the evolving post-2015 UN development agenda and can be
expected to gain more prominence in multi-stakeholder discussions at global level in the future. The 2010 High-level
Plenary meeting of the General Assembly, Rio+20 and the Busan Global Partnership all make explicit reference to this
important engine to fulfil commitments for effective development cooperation.
The very existence of European savings banks is rooted in the notion of assistance and support
to the poor and the contribution to social progress. Savings banks foundations were indeed
originally created specifically to combat poverty and social exclusion and its direct negative
impacts. Savings banks’ actions in the social field now focus on providing means to encourage
autonomy and initiative, rather than the simple provision of aid.
Once you’ve saved money for investing, consider carefully all
your options and think about what diversification strategy makes
sense for you. While the SEC cannot recommend any particular
investment product, you should know that a vast array of invest-
ment products exists—including stocks and stock mutual funds,
corporate and municipal bonds, bond mutual funds, certificates
of deposit, money market funds, and U.S. Treasury securities.
Diversification can’t guarantee that your investments won’t
suffer if the market drops.
The Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (hereinafter referred to collectively as "Parties" and individually as "Party"),
Desiring to establish and develop mutually beneficial and equitable economic and trade relations on the basis of mutual respect for their respective independence and sovereignty;
Acknowledging that the adoption of and compliance with international trade norms and standards by the Parties will aid the development of mutually beneficial trade relations, and should be the underlying basis of those relations...
Despite the prominence of gender issues in the IADGs, effectiveness of development cooperation has not focussed
enough on outcomes of gender equality and women’s rights in terms of either the inclusion of indicators tracking the
focus of development cooperation on gender equality or the participation of women’s organisations in initiatives to hold
actors to account. 2012 analysis conducted for the DCF shows that aid/partnership policies, targets and mutual
accountability processes do not focus adequately on the gender impact of development cooperation.
