  • Scientists predict the earth is facing 40-to-60 years of climate change, even if emissions of carbon dioxide and other global warming gases stopped today. One inevitable consequence of the greenhouse gases already in the atmosphere will be an increase in the frequency and severity of natural disaster events. Global Warming, Natural Hazards, and Emergency Management documents the imperative need for communities to prepare for the coming effects of climate change and provides a series of in-depth, road-tested recommendations on how to reduce risks for communities and businesses.

  • Normally the frequency divider designed by Boole algebra and to design a frequency divider with any divide factor, we have to repeat all over again every design step as the same. So to avoid of wasting time and money, instead of using traditional Boole algebra in digital technical we replace it by mathematical models in high algebra. And because of that we can design frequency dividers use computer. 1. Modeling of function circuit

  • This paper presents the results of a series of experiments which examine the impact of two information status categories (given and new) and frequency of occurrence on pitch accent realisations. More specifically the experiments explore within-type similarity of pitch accent productions and the effect information status and frequency of occurrence have on these productions. The results indicate a significant influence of both pitch accent type and information status category on the degree of withintype variability, in line with exemplartheoretic expectations. ...

  • We propose a novel method to automatically acquire a term-frequency-based taxonomy from a corpus using an unsupervised method. A term-frequency-based taxonomy is useful for application domains where the frequency with which terms occur on their own and in combination with other terms imposes a natural term hierarchy. We highlight an application for our approach and demonstrate its effectiveness and robustness in extracting knowledge from real-world data.

  • Cognitive theories of dialogue hold that entrainment, the automatic alignment between dialogue partners at many levels of linguistic representation, is key to facilitating both production and comprehension in dialogue. In this paper we examine novel types of entrainment in two corpora—Switchboard and the Columbia Games corpus. We examine entrainment in use of high-frequency words (the most common words in the corpus), and its association with dialogue naturalness and flow, as well as with task success. ...

  • This paper describes a novel approach for the automatic generation and evaluation of a trivial dialogue phrases database. A trivial dialogue phrase is defined as an expression used by a chatbot program as the answer of a user input. A transfer-like genetic algorithm (GA) method is used to generating the trivial dialogue phrases for the creation of a natural language generation (NLG) knowledge base. The automatic evaluation of a generated phrase is performed by producing n-grams and retrieving their frequencies from the World Wide Web (WWW).

  • In 1877 the Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli (1835-1910) observed some markings on the planet Mars which he referred to as canali. This was mistranslated into English as canals, suggesting man-made structures and the existence of intelligent life on Mars, instead of channels, which occur naturally. The idea of canals appealed to the imaginations of scientists and novelists alike. The astronomer Percival Lowell used it as the basis for his 'scientific observations', recorded in such works as Mars and its Canals (1908). The novelist H.G.

Đó là tần số tự do (natural frequency) và hệ số tắt dần (damping ratio). - Tần số tự do (Natural Frequency, ωn): là tần số của dao đông trong hệ thống mà không có sự tắt dần.

  • Learning how to write a coherent, effective text is a difficult and protracted achievement of cognitive development that contrasts sharply with the acquisition of speech. By the age of 5, spoken language is normally highly developed with a working vocabulary of several thousand words and an ability to comprehend and produce grammatical sentences. Although the specific contribution of a genetic predisposition for language learning is unsettled, it is apparent that speech acquisition is a natural part of early human development.

  • In any structure or assembly, certain whole-body motions and certain deformations are more common than others; the most likely (easiest to excite) motions will occur at certain natural frequencies. Certain exciting or forcing frequencies may coincide with the natural frequencies (resonance) and give relatively severe vibration responses. We will now discuss the much-simplified system shown in Fig.

Climate change is projected to aggravate water stress in many regions, especially where water is already scarce and where the demand for water is growing rapidly. Increased frequency of floods is also projected.

  • We study the ac-conductivity in linear response theory in the general framework of ergodic magnetic Schr¨dinger operators. For the Anderson model, o if the Fermi energy lies in the localization regime, we prove that the ac1 conductivity is bounded from above by Cν 2 (log ν )d+2 at small frequencies ν. This is to be compared to Mott’s formula, which predicts the leading term to 1 be Cν 2 (log ν )d+1 .
