In recent years, the awareness of water needs and processing
requirement has become an increasingly important topic.
As the earth's population increases the demand for "clean"
water has become an even larger factor in residential as
well as industrial and commercial costs. There are now
almost no natural water sources that do not require some
Water conservation encompasses the policies, strategies and activities to manage fresh water as a sustainable resource to protect the water environment and to meet current and future human demand. Population, household size and growth and affluence all affect how much water is used. Factors such as climate change will increase pressures on natural water resources especially in manufacturing and agricultural irrigation.
Assessment of source of air, water, and land pollution - Part II : Approaches for consideration in formulating evironmantal control strategies. The environment is a combination of natural factors and social surrounds the outside of a certain system. They affect this system and identify trends and status of its existence. Environment can be seen as a set, in which the system is considered as a subset. Environment of a system is considered to be interactive with that system
The steady increase in industrialization, urbanization and enormous population
growth are leading to production of huge quantities of wastewaters that may frequently
cause environmental hazards. Raw or treated waste water is very oft en discharged
to freshwaters and results in changing ecological performance and biological diversity
of these systems. About 70% of water supplied ends up as wastewater and several natural
water reservoirs are being contaminated by untreated sewage/industrial effl uents.
This makes waste water treatment and waste water reduction very important issues....
The use of aeration in the wastewater treatment field has been in existence for over
a century. Each of the authors has been involved with the theory and application of
aeration systems for a little less than half a century. It was a daunting task to put
together what we considered the important principles underlying the mechanisms
involved in aeration and show how they are applied in practical applications.
Today, ozone is considered as an alternative oxidant-disinfectant agent with multiple
possibilities of application in water, air pollution, medicine, etc. Particularly, in water
treatment it has many abilities to disinfect, oxidize, or to be combined with other
technologies and reagents.
The planet is a marvelous place with its blue skies, wild storms,
deep lakes, and rich and diverse ecosystems. The tides ebb and
flow, baby animals are born in the spring, and tropical rain
forests harbor an astonishing array of life. The Earth sustains living
things and provides humans with the resources they need to maintain
a bountiful way of life. These resources include water, soil, and nutrients
to grow food, and the mineral and energy resources to build and
fuel modern society, among many other things....
