An instrument in which any of the requirements mentioned in the preceding Article is wanting is invalid as a bill of exchange, except in the cases specified in the following paragraphs: 15
A bill of exchange in which the time of payment is not specified is deemed to be payable at sight. 16
In default of special mention, the place specified beside the name of the drawee is deemed to be the place of payment, and at the same time the place of the domicile of the drawee. 17

Airborne instruments designed for remote sensing of the surface of the Earth and
its atmosphere are important sources of information regarding the processes occurring
on Earth. This information is used widely in the fields of meteorology, geography,
geology, and oceanology, among other branches of the sciences.
Ventral view of the brain, correlating patterns of visual field loss with the sites of lesions in the visual pathway.
The visual fields overlap partially, creating 120° of central binocular field flanked by a 40° monocular crescent on either side. The visual field maps in this figure were done with a computer-driven perimeter (Humphrey Instruments, Carl Zeiss, Inc.). It plots the retinal sensitivity to light in the central 30° using a gray scale format. Areas of visual field loss are shown in black.

THE star ship came out of space drive for the last time, and made its final landing on a scrubby little planet that circled a small and lonely sun. It came to ground gently, with the cushion of a retarder field, on the side of the world where it was night. In the room that would have been known as the bridge on ships of other days, instrument lights glowed softly on Captain Renner's cropped white hair, and upon the planes of his lean, strong face. Competent fingers touched controls here and there, seeking a response that he knew would...
Ours is a very young profession: when the first edition of the
Instrument Engineers’ Handbook (IEH) came out, Marks’
Mechanical Engineers’ Handbook was in its fifth edition, and
Perry’s Chemical Engineers’ Handbook was in its sixth!
Now, as we are starting to work on the fourth edition of the
IEH, we are already in a new millenium. But while our
profession is young, we are also unique and special.
The perennially bestselling third edition of Norman A. Anderson's Instrumentation for Process Measurement and Control provides an outstanding and practical reference for both students and practitioners. It introduces the fields of process measurement and feedback control and bridges the gap between basic technology and more sophisticated systems. Keeping mathematics to a minimum, the material meets the needs of the instrumentation engineer or technician who must learn how equipment operates.
We are especially grateful to staff members at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond who did such an
excellent job in producing the book. Elaine Mandaleris, the Research Department's publications supervisor,
provided critical support in the initial stages of the book's production and in the coordination of the staff.
Dawn Spinozza, the managing editor for Instruments, did an exceptional job in editing the copy and
organizing the ongoing production of the book. Gale (Geep) Schurman, the graphic artist, did an excellent
job in producing the charts and design work.
Money market instruments are generally characterized by a high degree of safety of principal and are
most commonly issued in units of $1 million or more. Maturities range from one day to one year; the most
common are three months or less. Active secondary markets for most of the instruments allow them to be
sold prior to maturity. Unlike organized securities or commodities exchanges, the money market has no
specific location. It is centered in New York, but since it is primarily a telephone market it is easily accessible
from all parts of...
We produce about two million dollars for each hour we work. The time it takes us, a rather conservative
estimate, is fifty hours to get any etext selected, entered, proofread, edited, copyright searched and analyzed,
the copyright letters written, etc. Our projected audience is one hundred million readers.
The use of the Internet for terrorist purposes is a rapidly growing phenomenon, requiring
a proactive and coordinated response from Member States.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) plays a key role in providing
assistance to Member States, in furtherance of its mandate to strengthen the capacity
of national criminal justice systems to implement the provisions of the international
legal instruments against terrorism, and does so in compliance with the principles
rule of law and international human rights standards.
Prior to this reform, saving banks could only issue preferred stock without any political
rights and subject to limits on the amount of preferred stock that a person or group of
people could hold. This of course limited the attractiveness of the instrument and therefore
the ability to issue it in efficient, competitive conditions.
Now, saving banks will have the possibility to incorporate voting rights to the preferred
stock issued in proportion to the share that they represent on total equity. Stocks can be
issued up to a maximum of 50% of total equity of the Saving...
Chapter 1 - The financial system. This chapter explain the functions of a financial system, describe the main classes of financial instruments issued in a financial system, distinguish between various types of financial markets according to function, discuss the flow of funds between savers and borrowers, including direct and intermediated finance,...
The Sun is the primary source of energy at Earth, and the Sun’s output determines the conditions
in interplanetary space at Earth and throughout the solar system. Earth’s magnetic field and associated
electrical current systems are continuously reacting to changing conditions in the solar wind that are
driven by processes occurring at the Sun. The characteristics of Earth’s ionosphere and neutral
thermosphere are influenced both by local processes and by coupling of the ionosphere and thermosphere
to the overlying regions of the geospace1 environment....
The space-ship Viking—two hundred feet of gleaming metal and polished
duralite—lay on the launching platform of New York City's municipal
airport. Her many portholes gleamed with light. She was still taking
on rocket fuel from a tender, but otherwise all the final stores were
aboard. Her helicopters were turning over slowly, one at a time, as they
In the Viking's upper control room Gerry Norton and Steve Brent
made a final check of the instrument panels. Both men wore the blue and
gold uniform of the Interplanetary Fleet.
The story of embroidery includes in its history all the work of the needle since Eve sewed fig leaves together
in the Garden of Eden. We are the inheritors of the knowledge and skill of all the daughters of Eve in all that
concerns its use since the beginning of time.
When this small implement came open-eyed into the world it brought with it possibilities of well-being and
comfort for races and ages to come. It has been an instrument of beneficence as long ago as "Dorcas sewed
garments and gave them to the poor," and has been a creator of beauty since Sisera gave...
The responsibility for company listing in many other OECD member
countries is shared between the stock exchange and the securities regulators. In
France, for instance, while it is the Board of Directors of Euronext Paris that
decides on the admission of financial instruments on its market, it consults with
the Autorité des Marchés Financiers and seeks its observations before listing.
Likewise, in Australia, the responsibility for listed companies' compliance with
listing rules is shared between the ASX and the Australian Securities and
Investments Commission (ASIC).
These included the following: (1) obtaining official infor-
mation to proceed with the project from the LGA au-
thorities; (2) consent of the mothers of under-5 children
to fully participate at all stages of the project was
obtained; (3) fifty households were selected in a nearby
community (Ilaporu) for pre-testing of the questionnaire
before large-scale study - the questionnaires were pre-
tested with the research assistants, who had debriefing
on field experiences and proffered solutions to identified
problems - amendments were made, which led to re-
designing aspects of the ins...

The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade came into force on 1
January 1948. This booklet contains the complete text of the General
Agreement together with all amendments which have become effective
since its entry into force. The text is identical to that published, since 1969,
as Volume IV in the series Basic Instruments and Selected Documents. A
guide to the legal sources of the provisions of the Agreement is provided
in an appendix.
