  • In the Develop stage, the pretest served a dual purpose. First, our pretest allowed us to do a dry run for the diagnostic usability testing and validate our methodology by testing our moderator’s guide and test design. Second, the pretest allowed us to present the consumers with two additional and different presentations of information. In our project, the pretest yielded significant revisions to the notices. • The premise of this guide is that organizations are able to correctly identify the appropriate information categories, confidentiality impact levels, and location of the information. Ideally, this activity is accomplished in the earliest phase of the system life cycle. This critical initial step is outside the scope of this document, but without this identification, the organization will, in all likelihood, lose control of some media containing sensitive information.

  • I also wish to thank Prof. Dr. Thomas Dyllick, the co-advisor of my dissertation. His intellec- tual capacity always enabled him to provide constructive feedback and orientation, which he always presented in a very friendly manner. And whenever I myself had doubts about any particular weakness in my dissertation, I could be sure he had already identified it. Finally, my thanks go to Prof. Dr. Christoph Lechner who – without having a formal role in my dis- sertation – never hesitated to challenge my thoughts and provide helpful feedback.

  • The problems of smog formation are exacerbated by a meteorological phenomenon known as thermal inversion. Under normal atmospheric conditions, warm air in the vicinity of a large city is trapped by an overlayer of cool air. Since warm gases tend to rise, they normally diffuse upward and disperse the smog and other pollutants. A thermal inversion occurs when the upper layer is a layer of warm air, while the polluted air near the ground is relatively cool. In such a situation, the pollutant-laden cool air cannot rise and disperse.

Increasingly, car theft is a sophisticated criminal enterprise that involves title fraud, vehicle identification cloning, and stripping cars for parts in “chop shops.” The domestic and international black market for stolen vehicles and their parts is a profitable business. Vehicle identification cloning helps facilitate the crime of dealing in stolen vehicles.

  • The airport’s first four-storey car park, close to Terminal 2, was opened in 1991. The building is the result of a turnkey design and planning competition won by contractors Højgaard & Schultz and KHRAS Architects. The most noticeable features of the building are its attractive glass facade and its two opposing rotundas that house the entry and exit ramps. Its excellent and unconventional architecture is combined with optimum functionality. With space for about 1,300 cars on four storeys, it has become a model for other car parks in the airport.

  • Why is benchmarking SIEM important? According to the National Institute of Standards (NIST), SIEM software is a relatively new type of centralized logging software compared to syslog. Our SANS Log Management Survey1 shows 51 percent of respondents ranked collecting logs as their most critical challenge – and collecting logs is a basic feature a SIEM system can provide. Further, a recent NetworkWorld article2 explains how different SIEM products typically integrate well with selected logging tools, but not with all tools.

  • We honor those who provided this rich intellectual heritage while also recognizing that much has changed in the decades since the term "media literacy" first came into use. In responding to those changes, this document shifts the focus of the discussion from what we believe to be true about media to what we believe to be true about how people learn to think critically. It expands the boundaries of the field to encompass not only what we teach but also how we teach, thereby distinguishing these as Core Principles of "media literacy education" rather than solely as...

  • Project objectives should therefore contribute to national and sector policies wherever a public sector activity is being supported. When non-state actors are implementing projects, a distinction needs to be made drawn between activities fully outside the realm of the public sector and activities undertaken on behalf of government. In the latter case, non-state actors typically deliver services of a public nature as if these services had been ‘contracted out’ by government.

  • Greenplum utilizes a “parallel-everywhere” approach to loading, in which data flows from one or more source systems to every node of the database without any sequential choke points. This approach differs from traditional “bulk loading” technologies—used by most mainstream database and MPP appliance vendors—which push data from a single source, often over a single channel or a small number of parallel channels, and result in fundamental bottlenecks and ever- increasing load times.
