The principle of Occam’s razor loosely translates to “the simplest solution is often the best”. The author of Kinematic Geometry of Surface Machining utilizes this reductionist philosophy to provide a solution to the highly inefficient process of machining sculptured parts on multi-axis NC machines. He has developed a method to quickly calculate the necessary parameters, greatly reduce trial and error, and achieve efficient machining processes by using less input information, and in turn saving a great deal of time.
Inspired by previous preprocessing approaches to SMT, this paper proposes a novel, probabilistic approach to reordering which combines the merits of syntax and phrase-based SMT. Given a source sentence and its parse tree, our method generates, by tree operations, an n-best list of reordered inputs, which are then fed to standard phrase-based decoder to produce the optimal translation. Gamma uses traditional relational techniques for query parsing, optimization [SELI79, JARK84], and code
generation. The optimization process is somewhat simpliﬁed as Gamma only employs hash-based algorithms for
joins and other complex operations. Queries are compiled into a left-deep tree of operators. At execution time,
each operator is executed by one or more operator processes at each participating site.

Our experimental results use single precision 32-bit ﬂoat-
ing point values as the element data type, unless otherwise
mentioned. Since SSE and SSE2 registers are 128 bits, this
choice means that S = 4. Our Pentium4 machine runs at 1.8
GHz, has 1GB of Rambus RDRAM, and uses the RedHat
Linux 7.1 operating system. We use Intel's C++ compiler
with the highest optimization level.
