This study was performed to develop software sensorsto predict the BOD5 of river water and wastewater. The software sensors were based on the multiple-regression analysis using the dissolved organic carbon(DOC) concentration, UV light absorbance at 254nm and synchronous fluorescence spectra. River water samples and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)effluents were collected at 1-hour interval to evaluatethe feasibility of the software sensors.
Soil reactivity with chemical oxidants is also important when considering the
costs of the use of chemical oxidation. Excessive loss of a chemical oxidant that is
reacting with organics in soil, instead of reacting with the contaminants, may
preclude the use of the technology as an economically viable approach to site

In the last year the Blacksmith Institute and Green Cross Switzerland have been using field studies and

Institutes Toxic Sites Identification Program (TSIP). This program is an ongoing process to identify and screen
contaminated sites in low and middle-income countries.
To address these objectives, we collected data and analyzed changes in
companies’ choice of auditors and in audit fees, computed concentration
ratios and other measures of concentration. We developed an econometric
model to evaluate how various factors, including the level of market
concentration, could explain fees that public companies paid to their
