  • In this paper we will construct a parameter-dependent cyclic inequality that can be used to prove a lot of hard and interesting inequalities. 1. Introduction The cyclic inequality is a type of inequality that may be right in just some particular cases but not in genenal. In this paper, we propose one type of parameter-dependent cyclic inequality from a special inequality. Thanks to this inequality, we can obtain many inequalities by choosing α and n. Note that it can be proved by some ways in particular case. However in order to prove it in general case, we have to...

  • Bowen’s formula relates the Hausdorff dimension of a conformal repeller to the zero of a ‘pressure’ function. We present an elementary, self-contained proof to show that Bowen’s formula holds for C 1 conformal repellers. We consider time-dependent conformal repellers obtained as invariant subsets for sequences of conformally expanding maps within a suitable class.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel method for semi-supervised learning of nonprojective log-linear dependency parsers using directly expressed linguistic prior knowledge (e.g. a noun’s parent is often a verb). Model parameters are estimated using a generalized expectation (GE) objective function that penalizes the mismatch between model predictions and linguistic expectation constraints.

  • Dependency parsing is a central NLP task. In this paper we show that the common evaluation for unsupervised dependency parsing is highly sensitive to problematic annotations. We show that for three leading unsupervised parsers (Klein and Manning, 2004; Cohen and Smith, 2009; Spitkovsky et al., 2010a), a small set of parameters can be found whose modification yields a significant improvement in standard evaluation measures. These parameters correspond to local cases where no linguistic consensus exists as to the proper gold annotation. ...

  • Life on Earth is dependent on sunlight. In the process known as photosynthesis, plants, algae and certain bacterias are capable of using this source of energy to drive the synthesis of organic compounds. The oxygenic photosynthesis results in the release of molecular oxygen and the removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere that is used to synthesize carbohydrates.

  • Safety/Reliability engineering did not develop as a unified discipline, but grew out of the integration of a number of activities, previously the province of various branches of engineering. Since no human activity can enjoy zero risk, and no equipment has a zero rate of failure, there has emerged a safety technology for optimizing risk. This attempts to balance the risk of a given activity against its benefits and seeks to assess the need for further risk reduction depending upon the cost.

  • Minimizing the frequency and consequences of iatrogenic infections depends on improving the quality and accessibility of good medical services. Unlike STIs, which rely primarily on behavior change for their prevention, avoiding iatrogenic infections centers on maximizing access to good quality care, and in particular the technical competence of health care providers. It also requires resources and supportive public policy measures and encouragement of prompt health care seeking behavior by individuals.

  • If we really want to avoid climate change and conserve the ecosystems on which we all depend, it’s clear that we have to tackle both what we produce and consume. To progress this work, WWF believes that the UK government and retailers need to urgently develop and promote eating habits based on a sustainable diet if we are to address climate change, protect ecosystems and start to reverse the impacts of poor nutritional choices and promotions on people’s health.

  • The skin plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of the living organism while allowing the interaction of the organism with its environment. To fulfill these functions, mechanical stability is as important as flexibility. The mechanical properties of skin are very diverse depending on the anatomical location, and they evolve throughout life from the fetus to old age. Both genetic and acquired skin diseases modify skin biomechanics, as do intrinsic and photoaging.

  • OF INVARIANT FIBER BUNDLES FOR DYNAMIC EQUATIONS ON MEASURE CHAINS ¨ CHRISTIAN POTZSCHE AND STEFAN SIEGMUND Received 8 August 2003 m -SMOOTHNESS We present a new self-contained and rigorous proof of the smoothness of invariant fiber bundles for dynamic equations on measure chains or time scales. Here, an invariant fiber bundle is the generalization of an invariant manifold to the nonautonomous case.

TRIGIANTE Received 21 July 2004; Accepted 4 October 2004 The study of the stability properties of numerical methods leads to considering linear difference equations depending on a complex parameter q. Essentially, the associated characteristic polynomial must have constant type for q ∈ C− . Usually such request is proved with the help of computers.

Kinetic analysis of thewild-type yeast protein reveals a predominant fast-folding phase which conforms to an apparent two-state folding model. ...

  • A clear difference in the enthalpy changes derived from spectroscopic and calorimetric measurements has recently been shown. The exact interpretation of this deviation varied from study to study, but it was generally attributed to the non-two-state transition and heat capacity change. Although the temperature-dependent thermodynamics of the duplex formation was often implied, systemic and extensive studies have been lacking in universally assigning the appropriate thermodynamic parameter sets.

  • The screen includes a General Kernel Parameters text field that enables you to enter any special options that Red Hat Linux may need as it boots. Your need for special options depends on what hardware you have. The remainder of the Boot Loader Configuration screen gives you the option to select the disk partition from which you want to boot the PC. A table then lists the Linux partition and any other partitions that may contain another operating system. If your system has a Linux partition and a DOS partition (that actually has Windows 95/98 installed on it), the table...

  • Plants are continuously affected by a variety of environmental factors. Whereas biotic environmental factors are other organisms such as symbionts, parasites, pathogens, herbivores, and competitors, abiotic factors include parameters and resources which determine plant growth like temperature, relative humidity, light, availability of water, mineral nutrients, and CO 2 , as well as wind, ionizing radiation, or pollutants (Schulze et al. 2002 ) . The effect each abiotic factor has on the plant depends on its quantity or intensity.
