  • This paper presents collaborative decoding (co-decoding), a new method to improve machine translation accuracy by leveraging translation consensus between multiple machine translation decoders. Different from system combination and MBR decoding, which postprocess the n-best lists or word lattice of machine translation decoders, in our method multiple machine translation decoders collaborate by exchanging partial translation results.

  • Together, we have to successfully make this important transition which is the most demanding challenge our industry has to meet since, at the beginning of the 1930s, cinema progressed from silent films to films with sound. Although more than 2,100 screens are equipped in France today (i.e. 40% of the total screens count) – one of the most rapidly growing d-cinema market in the world - this challenge is far from being accomplished. • Destinations in authentic (often Third World) countries are often off the beaten track. Tourists enjoy authentic experiences in places which have experienced limited tourism development. Emerging destinations in Asia, South America and Africa attract a small number of adventurous tourists who are prepared to forego their comfort in order to interact with local communities and unspoiled surroundings. Although these regions may develop at a later stage to mass tourism destinations, they need to be planned properly in order to sustain their resources.

  • The economic value of a community is generally measured through such things as residential real estate prices, taxing capacity, the quality of public amenities, the value of nearby retail services and the quality of human capital. Assets grow and depreciate in value based on individual and social actions, including the willingness or ability of individuals, households, businesses and governments to invest in and develop them. Economically distressed communities have declining asset values relative to more competitive places.

  • In recent years, malware has become a widespread prob- lem. Compromised machines on the Internet are generally referred to as bots, and the set of bots controlled by a single entity is called a botnet. Botnet controllers use techniques such as IRC channels and customized peer-to-peer proto- cols to control and operate these bots. Botnets have multiple nefarious uses: mounting DDoS attacks, stealing user passwords and identities, generat- ing click fraud [9], and sending spam email [16].

  • To assess the explanatory power of a trust-based explanation we start by modelling the impact of trust on portfolio decisions. Not only does the model provide testable implications, but it also gives us a sense of the economic importance of this phenomenon. In the absence of any cost of participation, a low level of trust can explain why a large fraction of individuals do not invest in the stock market. In addition, the model shows that lack of trust amplifies the effect of costly participation.

  • Infection can spread through direct contact with an infected area of someone’s body or contact with contaminated hands or any substance or surface that holds infectious material (i.e., saliva, mucous, diaper changing table). Many objects can absorb, retain, and transport germs. In childcare settings, the surfaces of floors, activity and food tables, diaper changing tables, doorknobs, toilet room surfaces, toys, and fabric objects may have many germs on them if they are not properly cleaned and sanitized.

  • The substantial fraction of ammonia (NH3) emissions shown for the wood products industry is the result of an NEI data reporting error: 225,000 TPY of ammonia emissions reported in NEI are from a single facility and are believed to be incorrectly reported or misclassified as energy related. After correcting for this error by eliminating that data point, total energy-related CAP emissions for the wood products industry are approximately 180,000 TPY (as reported in Table 13, Section 2.3.

  • The second stage involved selection of two rice producing local governments in each state. From each local government, two rice producing villages were randomly selected. It should be noted that the list of the local governments and villages producing rice in each state are readily available at the state ADP. The fourth and final stage was the random selection of 20 farmers from each village, making a total of 320 farmers for the study. The selections were done to cover the various rice ecologies available in each state.

  • Emerging stock markets have been identified as being at least partially segmented from global capital markets. As a consequence, it has been argued that local risk factors rather than world risk factors are the primary source of equity return variation in these markets. Accordingly, Bilson, Brailsford, and Hooper (1999) aimed to address the question of whether macroeconomic variables may proxy for local risk sources. They found moderate evidence to support this hypothesis.

  • An ideal aspirate is of creamy consistency with numerous cells suspended in a small amount of tissue fluid without admixture with blood. Such aspirates are smeared immediately using another slide or cover slip or with the needle itself and dropped into the fixative. At the beginning of the smearing process, while the material is still in a drop on the slide, the surface area for evaporation is relatively small and hence a short delay will not cause significant air-drying.

  • With historically low interest rates and the unprecedented monetary and fiscal stimulus measures taken to combat the market downturn of 2008–2009, many believe that the Fed has no choice but to begin raising interest rates in the near future. That is a normal course of action and signals that the Fed believes the economy is on sounder footing. Yet, the prospect of rising interest rates provides much consternation for bond investors, who may be disserved by such action.

  • Most of my work in economics involves constructing theoretical models. Over the years, I have developed some ways of doing this that may be worth describing to those who aspire to practice this art. In reality the process is much more haphazard than my description would suggest|the model of research that I describe is an idealization of reality, much like the economic models that I create. But there is probably enough connection with reality to make the description useful|which I hope is also true for my economic models....

  • Design decisions and design management activities contribute to the overall outcome of the design activity, but typically are not accounted for in statistics and studies of the design professions and their role in business. From previous research (Walsh et al 1992), it is clear that significant design decisions are made by non- designers as part of their role, for example Technical Directors, Marketing managers and so on. Elsewhere, this contribution has been cited as ‘silent design’ (Gorb and Dumas, 1987). This contribution has not been covered in this report. ...
