This book discusses an emerging approach to
architecture in which building performance is a
guiding design principle. This architecture places
broadly defined performance above, or on a par
with, form-making; it utilizes digital technologies of
quantitative and qualitative performance-based
simulation to offer a comprehensive new approach
to the design of the built environment.
Velocity management has brought a new way of doing business to U.S. Army logistics, with a renewed focus on the Army customer and a powerful approach for process improvement that cuts across three critical performance dimensions: time, quality, and cost. The goal is to reduce the need for massive logistics resources
In machine learning, whether one can build a more accurate classifier by using unlabeled data (semi-supervised learning) is an important issue. Although a number of semi-supervised methods have been proposed, their effectiveness on NLP tasks is not always clear. This paper presents a novel semi-supervised method that employs a learning paradigm which we call structural learning.
We propose a novel method for learning morphological paradigms that are structured within a hierarchy. The hierarchical structuring of paradigms groups morphologically similar words close to each other in a tree structure. This allows detecting morphological similarities easily leading to improved morphological segmentation. Our evaluation using (Kurimo et al., 2011a; Kurimo et al., 2011b) dataset shows that our method performs competitively when compared with current state-ofart systems.

The computing world today is in the middle of a revolution: mobile clients and cloud computing have emerged as the dominant paradigms driving programming and hardware innovation today. The Fifth Edition of Computer Architecture focuses on this dramatic shift, exploring the ways in which software and technology in the cloud are accessed by cell phones, tablets, laptops, and other mobile computing devices. Each chapter includes two real-world examples, one mobile and one datacenter, to illustrate this revolutionary change....
The length of chordae was a measurement
of the distance between the head of the PM and the free edge of the posterior leaflet. Length
of the opposing chordae of the posterior leaflet was measured directly by using a calliper.
Double-armed mattress sutures with CV-5 GORE-TEX were placed at the fibrous tip of the
PM using PTFE on both sides and tied down firmly. In all cases Doi performed Duran ring
annuloplasty. Thereafter, the ePTFE suture is placed through the anterior leaflet.
The main purpose of control engineering is to steer the regulated plant in such a way
that it operates in a required manner. The desirable performance of the plant should
be obtained despite the unpredictable influence of the environment on all parts of the
control system, including the plant itself, and no matter if the system designer knows
precisely all the parameters of the plant.
Given these considerations, solving the routing problem can be seen as a
choice among three alternatives. Common to the three alternatives is the need
to broadcast some piece of information to all the servers in the network, where
the broadcast is required by the lack of a priori knowledge of locality. The first
alternative broadcasts notifications, which implies that notification matching
is performed at each local server based on the subscriptions received at that
The tendinous chords, as functional extensions of the papillary muscles, perform the dual
function of maintaining valvular competence by preventing leaflet prolapse and
maintaining ventricular geometry by providing cross-ventricular support. The chords
originate from the apical portions of the papillary muscles or directly from the posterior
ventricular wall. They insert either into the free edge of the leaflets or on their ventricular
surface. Chords have been characterized a number of ways.
In a series published by Peirson and Nickerson, one patient had 4 grams of tissue
resected for histology during transurethral prostate biopsy and this was later found to be
benign. However since DRE was suspicious for cancer a perineal punch biopsy with the
Silverman needle was performed and this subsequently revealed malignancy (figure 7)
(Peirson and Nickerson, 1943). Consequently Kaufman et al.
Arts-related real estate markets have paradoxical entry
barriers and advantages. There are barriers inherent
in the uncertainty of demand, zoning issues and the
costs of retrofitting old systems. At the same time,
entry barriers are lowered because the space demand is
flexible and often requires minimal high-end fixtures
Art-making, performance, craft production and
exhibition spaces attract users who want to adapt and
re-create space in flexible ways.
Quality assurance of the screening process requires a robust system of programme mana-
gement and coordination, assuring that all aspects of the service are performing adequa-
tely. The first edition of the European Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Cervical Cancer
Screening emphasized the principles of organised, population-based screening and was in-
strumental in initiating pilot projects in Europe. More than a decade has passed since pub-
lication of the first guideline edition.
Over recent years we have made considerable progress towards understanding
what drives innovation and how Government can help businesses develop
innovative products and services. Through work like the Innovation Report 2003
and the Lambert Review of University and Business Collaboration 2003, the
Department and others across Government have recognised the central role of
technology and science in innovation and the UK’s long-term economic growth.
Two notable policy responses have been the 10 Year Science and Innovation
Framework and the Tax Credit for Research and Development.
Cars should roll easily across a smooth
floor or down a cardboard or wooden
ramp propped up on stairs. If not, check
that the wheels are free to turn (the
wheels aren’t rubbing on the chassis
and the axles aren’t rubbing on the
bearings) and that the axles are parallel.
Building a small fleet of these cars
provides opportunities to race them,
either for speed down a ramp or for
distance from the base of the ramp to
the far reaches of the classroom or
gym. Add weights (fishing weights,
metal washers, etc.) to see if the cars
perform better. Measure and record
each trial run.

In terms of their attitudes towards the benefi ts of work and accumulating wealth, New Zealanders
do not differ markedly from respondents from the comparator countries.
New Zealand has a high-quality regulatory environment. It is assessed by the World Bank as
being second in the OECD (and third in the world) for overall ease of doing business. However,
there is still scope for New Zealand to further improve its performance in certain sub-indicators.
In a world immersed in readymade images, consumer advertising
and the bureaucratised language of institutions, Kristeva’s work
explains how art or aesthetic experience is one of the few means
by which we can generate and access images that are linked to our
vital and lived experiences and that have the capacity to engender
personal, political and social renewal.
A bond with face value Rs. 100, maturity of 3 years and a coupon rate of 10%is issued. The market interest
rate at the time of purchase is 8%, and falling. The investment in this scenario promises to be attractive for
the investor as it offers greater returns than the present market rate. The market price of this bond will
therefore be higher than the face value.
Now, if the market rate increases to 10% in the second year of the investment, the bond no longer remains
attractive and the market price drops down to Rs. 90.
For solid lesions multiple passes with separate needles are performed. Staying within the lesion,
the needle is moved in a cutting motion withdrawing cells into the needle hub. The force of the
cutting motion needed to obtain an adequate sample must be adjusted for the body site and
characteristics of the lesion. These biopsies may be performed with suction or by the “non-
