  • This is the third edition of a physical chemistry textbook designed for a two-semester undergraduate physical chemistry course. The physical chemistry course is often the first opportunity that a student has to synthesize descriptive, theoretical, and mathe- matical knowledge about chemistry into a coherent whole. To facilitate this synthe- sis, the book is constructed about the idea of defining a system, studying the states in which it might be found, and analyzing the processes by which it can change its state....

  • This introduction to nuclear physics provides an excellent basis for a core undergraduate course in this area. The authors show how simple models can provide an understanding of the properties of nuclei, both in their ground and excited states, and of the nature of nuclear reactions. They include chapters on nuclear fission, its application in nuclear power reactors, the role of nuclear physics in energy production and nucleosynthesis in stars.

  • The information compiled in this report reflects evidence collected from WHP policies in high-income countries, primarily within the European and North American regions. The scarcity of information and case studies from low- and middle-income countries was highlighted as an important gap in the current knowledge that needs to be addressed. Despite the limits of the available evidence, all stakeholders are encouraged to develop and implement WHP policies and programmes tackling unhealthy diets and physical inactivity....

  • The effective application of Markov chains has been paid much attention, and it has raised a lot of theoretical and applied problems. In this paper, we would like to approach one of these problems which is finding the long-run behavior of extremely huge-state Markov chains according to the direction of investigating the structure of Markov Graph to reduce complexity of computation. We focus on the way to access to the finite-state Markov chain theory via Graph theory.

  • Along the way to becoming a space-faring species, humanity has faced enormous challenges. Despite these many initial hurdles, however, the United States has contributed to the progress of human spaceflight by delivering the lunar landings, the space shuttle, and, in partnership with other nations, the International Space Station (ISS). NASA’s rich and successful history has been enabled by, and responsible for, a strong backbone of scientific and engineering research accomplishments.

  • The compounds of La1-xCaxMnO3- δ with x=0.46 and 0.50 occupy special positions in the phase diagram of La1-xCaxMnO3-δ system due to their interesting properties and charge-ordering phase transition. The samples were prepared by a solid-state reaction method. The XPD patterns show that the samples are of a single-phase orthorhombic-perovskite structure. The chemical compositions of the samples are investigated by EDS. The concentrations of oxygen and Mn3+; Mn4+ ions have been determined by dichromate method.

  • The solid state and the structure of Solids We all live on terra firma, the 29 percent of our planet’s solid crust that lies above sea level. And almost everything we do is tied to solids, living in houses, creating and marketing solid goods, eating solid foods, and so on. But if you are asked to define a solid, it might be difficult. A solid is one of those familiar things that are hard to put into words. A good definition of a solid is that it tends to keep its shape when it is left alone. But that doesn’t...
