Clearly a more stratified approach to clinical trials would help identify those subgroups who
appear to be the best responders to a particular intervention. To date however there is little
to suggest that stratification on the basis of clinical characteristics successfully helps predict
which drugs work best for which patients. There is a pressing need for the development of
biomarkers with clinical utility, for mental health problems.
This section describes characteristics of the Wisconsin household population subgroups for whom health
statistics are presented in this report. All of the characteristics described here are estimates from the
2008 Family Health Survey weighted data. The Family Health Survey is considered to be representative
of all people who live in Wisconsin households. Survey results can be used to describe household
residents, keeping in mind that survey estimates will differ from results of a complete count, such as a
Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies, by whatever name they are called, have existed from antiquity. Recognition of the widespread use of CAM by the people of the United States has given new emphasis to the need to better understand the effects of these treatments from the perspective of personal and public health.
Talen and Anselin evaluate several different accessibility
measures and state that the simplest 'container'
approach (density of services per capita in a given area)

The discussion below describes the physical effects of key air pollutants on human
health. This discussion is mostly based on Morgan and Jalaludin’s (2001) review.
Where possible, sensitive subgroups in the population have been identified, including
people with existing disease (mainly respiratory and cardiovascular), people with
infections such as influenza and pneumonia, asthmatics, the elderly and children.
Exposure-response estimates for the key pollutants are presented in Appendix 3.
Financial education is the process by which individuals improve their understanding of financial
products and concepts; and through information, instruction and/or objective advice develop the skills
and confidence to become more aware of financial risks and opportunities, to make informed choices,
to know where to go for help, and to take other effective actions to improve their financial well-being
and protection (OECD 2005).
Latina/os are now the largest and fastest growing minority group in the United
States, representing approximately 33 million in the year 2000, and two thirds of
them are Chicana/os. However, there are major differences among Latino subgroups
in terms of their cultural characteristics, immigration experiences, history, socioeconomic
levels, and other important factors. It is no longer appropriate to negate
these differences or to assume that all Latinos share similar psychological issues
(McNeill et al., 2001).
