Abstract: Industry standard for the control of switch mode power supply (SMPS) systems has been analog control. Now with the advent of high speed, lower cost digital signal processing (DSP) ICs, digital control there has been an increased interest in digital control of SMPS. The Power Electronics & Power Quality Laboratory of Texas A&M University is currently exploring several implementation aspects of digital control of power factor correction (PFC) stage of SMPS. Two low cost digital controllers: TMS320LF2407 and ST52x420 are evaluated for implementing PFC function.

In No 216 of "The Medical Record" (Dec. 15th, 1874) was published an article written by me, entitled "On

The interest manifested in the subject, as evidenced by numerous letters of inquiry since received from
physicians in almost all parts of the United States, and some in Europe, has induced me to write the present
treatise, in which I have endeavored to present to the profession, as far as lies in my power, all that is
necessary to a full comprehension of the electro-balneological treatment.

Automatic Voltage Regulator adjusts the excitation so that at the system design power factor, the voltage
is correct whatever the current. If however it adjusts the excitation to give the correct voltage at other
power factors, then two machines will not run in parallel. One can supply a huge leading current and the
other a huge lagging current. A “droop” is needed to give a lower voltage if the power factor lags by more
than the system design. This is achieved by the compounding. Faulty Compounding causes unstable
sharing of kVAr which can be quite violent....
The origin of the electrolytic capacitor or condenser can be traced
to the second half of the 19th century when the discovery was made
(Wheatstone, Buff, Ducretet) that a film can be formed on aluminum
electrochemically and that it will exhibit unidirectional electrical conductance
and other peculiar properties. One of the early attempted
applications of the electrolytic capacitor was in conjunction with the
starting of single-phase induction motors; efforts were also made to
utilize it for power factor correction in alternating current circuits.
