We propose using large-scale clustering of dependency relations between verbs and multiword nouns (MNs) to construct a gazetteer for named entity recognition (NER). Since dependency relations capture the semantics of MNs well, the MN clusters constructed by using dependency relations should serve as a good gazetteer. However, the high level of computational cost has prevented the use of clustering for constructing gazetteers.
The International Agency for Research on
Cancer was established by a resolution of
the 18th World Health Assembly in 1965
with a defined mission to conduct and
promote international collaboration in
cancer research with the objective of
improving health through a reduction in
the incidence of and mortality from cancer
throughout the world.
The use of ethanol for fuel was widespread in Europe and the United States
until the early 1900s (Illinois Corn Growers’ Association/Illinois Corn
Marketing Board). Because it became more expensive to produce than
petroleum-based fuel, especially after World War II, ethanol’s potential was
largely ignored until the Arab oil embargo of the 1970s. One response to the
embargo was increased use of the fuel extender “gasohol ” (or E-10), a
mixture of one part ethanol made from corn mixed with nine parts gasoline.
Vector seed selection was applied to the aforementioned eigenspace images, or multi-
spectral images, to obtain initial seeds. The algorithm of seeded region growing was further
adopted to divide the multi-spectral images into many small regions. The algorithm of
region merging was employed to merge similar regions as well as to combine smaller
regions with the nearest neighboring regions.
Cancer arises through a series of somatic alterations in DNA that result in unrestrained cellular proliferation. Most of these alterations involve actual sequence changes in DNA (i.e., mutations). They may arise as a consequence of random replication errors, exposure to carcinogens (e.g., radiation), or faulty DNA repair processes. While most cancers arise sporadically, familial clustering of cancers occurs in certain families that carry a germline mutation in a cancer gene.
To our knowledge, no study has yet addressed the issue of Breslow index determination
using OCT. Only one study tried to determine OCT specific features of benign and
malignant melanocytic skin lesions. OCT of benign nevi demonstrated correlates of typical
histological features including the finger-shaped elongation of rete ridges and dense cell
clusters in the dermoepidermal junction zone and/or dermis.
Research conducted for Missing the Target 7 by civil society activists on-the-
ground in six countries (Argentina, Cambodia, Moldova, Morocco, Uganda,
and Zimbabwe) shows that efforts to prevent vertical transmission are
failing to reach the very group it was designed for—HIV-positive

The staff of the International Agency for
Research on Cancer (IARC), and the
Agency diaspora, were saddened to hear of
the death of Dr Lorenzo Tomatis, the
second Director of the IARC and the
founder of the IARC Monographs
Programme for Carcinogen Identification
Dr Tomatis was a welcome visitor to
the Agency. He had been participating in
the planning meetings for the 100th

Public health has been defined as the “science and art of prolonging life, preventing
disease, and promoting health through organized efforts of society.” The geographical
perspective is a key aspect of public health. Populations and communities are
geographically distributed and communities tend to have their own defining characteristics.
Unproven but of potential benefit.
Many experts favor verapamil as the first-line preventive treatment for patients with chronic cluster headache or prolonged bouts. While verapamil compares favorably with lithium in practice, some patients require verapamil doses far in excess of those administered for cardiac disorders. The initial dose range is 40–80 mg twice daily; effective doses may be as high as 960 mg/d. Side effects such as constipation and leg swelling can be problematic. Of paramount concern, however, is the cardiovascular safety of verapamil, particularly at high doses.
