The basic theme of this paper is the fact that if A is a finite set of integers, then the sum and product sets cannot both be small. A precise formulation of this fact is Conjecture 1 below due to Erd˝s-Szemer´di [E-S]. (see also [El], [T], o e and [K-T] for related aspects.) Only much weaker results or very special cases of this conjecture are presently known. One approach consists of assuming the sum set A + A small and then deriving that the product set AA is large (using Freiman’s structure theorem) (cf. [N-T], [Na3]). We follow the...
What is marketing?
Marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating,
communicating, and delivering value to customers and for managing customer
relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders. The process
through which VALUE is exchanged.
The possibility of producing ethanol from biomass such as maize cobs and groundnut shells was investigated. Different concentrations of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) were used to determine the acid concentration that could produce an optimal yield of glucose. The results revealed that 4.5M H2SO4 produced the optimal yield of glucose and ethanol. This acid concentration was then used for the study of temperature effects on yield of glucose. The results indicated that glucose yield increased with temperature within the experimental set-up....

Generally speaking, scheduling is the procedure of mapping a set of tasks or jobs
(studied objects) to a set of target resources efficiently. It is an important tool in
manufacturing and engineering, where it can have a major impact on the productivity
of a process. More specifically, as a part of a larger planning and scheduling process,
production scheduling is essential for the proper functioning of a manufacturing
enterprise. Its primary goal is to maximize throughput and optimize resource
utilization, while at the same time minimizing operating costs.
Working through Screens is a reference for product teams creating new or iteratively improved applications for thinking work. Written for use during early, formative conversations, it provides teams with a broad range of considerations for setting the overall direction and priorities for their onscreen tools. With hundreds of
THE ROLE OF LEARNING IN ACHIEVING PRODUCTIVITY IN NON-EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS IN SERVICE ORGANIZATION My empirical analysis thus has two components. In Section 1.5, I look for evidence
that effectiveness sorting is more complete in high-choice than in low-choice markets, as the
simulations above suggest it should be if parental valuations attach substantial weight to
So far, hybrid-testing research has centered on dry-mill production, the
lower investment technique of choice for the new cooperatively owned
plants. The seed companies are targeting their incentive programs on dry
mills. Monsanto’s program, “Fuel Your Profits,” provides the participating
ethanol plant with high-tech equipment that profiles the genetics of
incoming corn and is calibrated to maximize ethanol yield (Rutherford). As
an incentive, Monsanto gives rebates on E85 vehicles (those designed to run
on 85%-ethanol fuel) and fueling stations.
Productivity is the name of the game. I don't care what you're doing... creating products, writing sales copy, driving traffic, etc. If you can't do any or all of those tasks efficiently, you will make less money. Period. If it takes you 12 hours to set up a "money getting" site, when it could've taken you 2... you just lost 10 hours of "profit time". Ouch. It gets worse. Taking a long time to do anything creates a NEGATIVE association to that task. Therefore, next time you have to do it... you'll naturally be resistant to it. Because you'll think...
The global demand for organically produced food is rising. In 2007 the organic food
market in the UK was estimated to be worth over £2 billion – an increase of 22% since
2005 (6). The UK organic market is now the third largest in Europe after Germany and
Italy. Fruit and vegetables comprise the largest sector of organic foods in the UK, closely
followed by dairy products. The shift in demand among consumers from conventionally to
organically produced foodstuffs appears to have arisen at least in part from a belief that
organically produced foodstuffs are healthier...
The synthesis of the modified tetrapyrrole known asd1haem requires sev-eral dedicated proteins which are coded for by a set of genes that are often
found adjacent to the structural gene, nirS, for cytochrome cd1 nitrite
reductase. NirE, the product of the first gene in the nirbiogenesis operon,
was anticipated to catalyse the conversion of uroporphyrinogen III into
An important and well-studied problem is the production of semantic lexicons from a large corpus. In this paper, we present a system named ASIA (Automatic Set Instance Acquirer), which takes in the name of a semantic class as input (e.g., “car makers”) and automatically outputs its instances (e.g., “ford”, “nissan”, “toyota”). ASIA is based on recent advances in webbased set expansion - the problem of finding all instances of a set given a small number of “seed” instances.
This paper presents our work on accumulation o f lexical sets which includes acquisition o f dictionary resources and production o f new lexical sets from this. The method for the acquisition, using a context-free syntax-directed translator and text modification techniques, proves easy-to-use, flexible, and efficient. Categories of production are analyzed, and basic operations are proposed which make up a formalism for specifying and doing production.
