Propagation

In this paper we describe the propagation of C ∞ and Sobolev singularities for the wave equation on C ∞ manifolds with corners M equipped with a Rie2 1 mannian metric g. That is, for X = M × Rt , P = Dt − ∆M , and u ∈ Hloc (X) solving P u = 0 with homogeneous Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions, we show that WFb (u) is a union of maximally extended generalized broken bicharacteristics. This result is a C ∞ counterpart of Lebeau’s results for the propagation of analytic singularities on real analytic manifolds with...

This paper focuses on mining the hyponymy (or isa) relation from largescale, opendomain web documents. A nonlinear probabilistic model is exploited to model the correlation between sentences in the aggregation of pattern matching results. Based on the model, we design a set of evidence combination and propagation algorithms.

Shortage of manually labeled data is an obstacle to supervised relation extraction methods. In this paper we investigate a graph based semisupervised learning algorithm, a label propagation (LP) algorithm, for relation extraction. It represents labeled and unlabeled examples and their distances as the nodes and the weights of edges of a graph, and tries to obtain a labeling function to satisfy two constraints: 1) it should be fixed on the labeled nodes, 2) it should be smooth on the whole graph. ...

In this paper, we first demonstrate the interest of the Loopy Belief Propagation algorithm to train and use a simple alignment model where the expected marginal values needed for an efficient EMtraining are not easily computable. We then improve this model with a distortion model based on structure conservation.

Prospect of the early grafting techique on hevea rubber propagation helps you know early grafting technique can become a alternative method in order to produce clonal planting material of Hevea rubber; production process of eraly grafting technique can be corried out in shorter time and lower cost than conventional budding technique, there were some constraints to implement the ecnique (retardation of initial growth, leaf and stem diseases) that must be finded their solution.

In this paper, we address the issue for learning better translation consensus in machine translation (MT) research, and explore the search of translation consensus from similar, rather than the same, source sentences or their spans. Unlike previous work on this topic, we formulate the problem as structured labeling over a much smaller graph, and we propose a novel structured label propagation for the task.

Bootstrapping a classifier from a small set of seed rules can be viewed as the propagation of labels between examples via features shared between them. This paper introduces a novel variant of the Yarowsky algorithm based on this view. It is a bootstrapping learning method which uses a graph propagation algorithm with a well defined objective function.

Many events in news articles don’t include time arguments. This paper describes two methods, one based on rules and the other based on statistical learning, to predict the unknown time argument for an event by the propagation from its related events. The results are promising – the rule based approach was able to correctly predict 74% of the unknown event time arguments with 70% precision.

This paper describes an algorithm for propagating verb arguments along lexical chains consisting of WordNet relations. The algorithm creates verb argument structures using VerbNet syntactic patterns. In order to increase the coverage, a larger set of verb senses were automatically associated with the existing patterns from VerbNet. The algorithm is used in an inhouse Question Answering system for reranking the set of candidate answers. Tests on factoid questions from TREC 2004 indicate that the algorithm improved the system performance by 2.4%. ...

Báo cáo khoa học: "Word Sense Disambiguation Using Label Propagation Based SemiSupervised Learning"
Shortage of manually sensetagged data is an obstacle to supervised word sense disambiguation methods. In this paper we investigate a label propagation based semisupervised learning algorithm for WSD, which combines labeled and unlabeled data in learning process to fully realize a global consistency assumption: similar examples should have similar labels.

We present a new grammatical formalism called Constraint Dependency G r a m m a r (CDG) in which every grammatical rule is given as a constraint on wordtoword modifications. CDG parsing is formalized as a constraint satisfaction problem over a finite domain so that efficient constraintpropagation algorithms can be employed to reduce structural ambiguity without generating individual parse trees. The weak generative capacity and the computational complexity of CDG parsing are also discussed.

In this paper, we present a method for determining complex permittivity of materials using two different thicknesses of the sample placed in free space. The proposed method is based on the use of transmission having the same geometry with different thicknesses with the aim to determine the complex propagation constant (γ). The reflection and transmission coefficients (S11 and S21) of material samples are determined using a freespace measurement system.

In the nineteenth century, scientists, mathematician, engineers and innovators started investigating electromagnetism. The theory that underpins wireless communications was formed by Maxwell. Early demonstrations took place by Hertz, Tesla and others. Marconi demonstrated the first wireless transmission. Since then, the range of applications has expanded at an immense rate, together with the underpinning technology. The rate of development has been incredible and today the level of technical and commercial maturity is very high.

Textbooks on radio antennas and propagation have changed little over the last 50 years. Invariably they base themselves on the famous electromagnetic equations described by James Clerk Max well, a great nineteenthcentury genius of theoretical physics (Torrance, 1982). Maxwell's equations brilliantly encompassed all the electromagnetic phenomena known by his time (except photo electric longwave cutoff, which remained ...
