Deming's Total Quality Management is a variation on Scientific Management applied to work processes
Chapter I: Fundamentals of Scientific Management
Chapter II: The Principles of Scientific Management
President Roosevelt, in his address to the Governors at the White House, prophetically remarked that "The conservation of our national resources is only preliminary to the larger question of national efficiency.
Stabilization Programs, Monetary Policy and Exchange Rate Movements in Emerging Markets Economies I use a unique data set consisting of observations on more than 300,000
metropolitan SAT takers from the 1994 cohort, matched to the high schools that students
attended. The size of this sample permits accurate estimation of both peer quality and
average performance for the great majority of high schools in each of 177 metropolitan
housing markets. I find no evidence that the association between peer group and student
performance is stronger in high-choice than in low-choice markets....
With the lunching of the Excellent Work Culture Movement in 1989, the Government
places great emphasis on the roles to be played by both the Management and the
employees in improving quality in Government departments /offices. For this purpose,
the Government encourages the establishment of Work Teams at the Officer-level and
QCC with membership from employees in the C & D categories to solve problems at the
After the wild success of Maya: Secrets of the Pros, we began thinking about the future of
the Secrets books. Although it was originally conceived as a single, stand-alone work, it was
obvious that a large audience was hungry for information from those who do professional
3D work on a day-to-day basis and that we should feed this appetite! Many “second edition”
books are simple rewrites of the previous title; not so with Maya: Secrets of the Pros,
In response to such changes we need a multifaceted, multi-agency
approach based on strengthening individuals, families and
communities, while at the same time improving the infrastructure and
access to services. Midwives and midwifery services have a particular
part to play in this. We could go a long way to achieving improvements
in health and social outcomes by giving more people, particularly
women and children, better life chances8.
The Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) was established in 1958 with
the mission to improve the quality of biology education at all levels. Not long
after the inception of the organization, our mission was expanded to include the
improvement of science education, not just biology education. In 2000, we further
articulated this mission to describe the work we would do in curriculum develop-
ment, professional development, and research and evaluation.
The mutual fund industry, beset by net
redemptions by investors and adverse global
and local market conditions, shrank by 1.6%
in terms of assets under management during
the year FY2011-2012.
However, volatile market conditions in the
last two years have led to net withdrawals
by investors to the tune of 49,406 crore INR
in FY 2010-11 and 22,023 crore INR in FY
2011-12, leading to a further drop in AuM,
in addition to the drop caused by adverse
The mutual fund industry is primarily
debt-oriented with debt funds (including
liquid funds) forming 64% of the AuM.
The description of a trading security includes both debt and marketable equity securities bought and held
primarily to be sold in the near term. Trading activities typically involve active and frequent buying and
selling to generate profits on short-term movements in market prices or spreads. ASC 320 does not
specify how long securities in this category can be held, because the length of time will vary between
investors and the nature of the securities.
The Spheres of the 1960s were all characterized by an imagery of
pure form sundered, violated, and partially eaten away by internal
erosion. Beneath the flawlessly polished or natural skins of the
exterior surfaces, multiple motifs of recessed and repeated dentils,
ribs, and hatching became for the artist “an expression
of an interior movement.”
While an artist in residence at Stanford University, Pomodoro
evolved the first of his new spheres, the Rotani or Rotors, of which
the Putnam Memorial Collection has one of the earliest examples.
The transparency of the body beneath the drapery is a clear reference point to the
female reclining figures from the Parthenon pediment sculptures. This is obvious in
Albert Moore’s Beads (1875), which depicts two young women reclining asleep in
different positions on a soft fabric bench with their legs, breasts, nipples and small
folds of their stomachs clearly visible beneath their white diaphanous Greek clothes.
Understanding the early pathogenesis of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is of critical
importance to ongoing and future efforts to decrease the impact of FMD in endemic regions
and prevent incursions to disease-free territories. The importance of the early phase of virus-
host interaction lies in two key facts: 1) it is the early events which determine if a susceptible
host becomes infected and 2) successful abrogation of the early events is the logical goal of
vaccines and biotherapeutic countermeasures.

The theory of Yin-Yang holds that the world is material and that this material world evolves
constantly as the result of the mutual action of two opposing material forces.
What is Yin-Yang? At its origin, the terms were used to designate the two slopes of a
mountain. The sunny side was Yang and the shady side was Yin. Later, their meaning
broadened to include all opposites.
Advection is the transport of dissolved solute mass present in groundwater due
to the bulk flow (movement) of that groundwater. Advection alone (with no
dispersion or reactive processes occurring) would cause a non-reactive solute
to advect (move) at the mean groundwater pore velocity. All solutes undergo
advection, however, reactive solutes are subject to influences by other
processes detailed below.
Molecular diffusion is the movement of solute ions in the direction of the con-
centration gradient from high towards low concentrations. It effects all solutes.
The modern industrial communities show an unprecedented uniformity and precise equivalence in
legally adopted weights and measures. Something of this kind would be brought about by the needs of
commerce, even without the urgency given to the movement for uniformity by the requirements of the
machine industry. But within the industrial field the movement for standardization has outrun the urging of
commercial needs, and has penetrated every corner of the mechanical industries.
The Ethiopian Boran breed originally descended from the first introduction of zebu
into Africa from West Asia. The breed established its presence first in the semi-arid and
arid pastoral Borana plateau of southern Ethiopia. The Borana pastoralist community
maintains it. Pastoral movements and migrations led to spread of the Ethiopian Boran
to the eastern rangelands in Ethiopia as well as into northern Kenya and southwestern
Somalia. The Orma Boran, the Somali Boran and the Kenya Boran have evolved from
Apart from the doubtful quality of many of the new issues, an important case
which shook the markets in early 1995 was the Rs. 350 crore Fully Convertible
Debentures (FCD) issue of M.S. Shoes. The company was accused of inadequate
disclosures. Taking advantage of free pricing of issues, many companies charged
high premium. But the post-listing returns proved to be disappointing. In the post-
liberalisation period a good number of companies were not only non-manufacturing
ones, but the purpose of issue also varied from project finance to working capital.
What is speed in fighting? Is it the velocity of your hands, feet and body movement? Or are there other, prevalent essentials in a good fighter? What is a good fighter? A good fighter is one who can hit his opponent quicker, harder, without much perceptible effort, and yet avoid being hit. He doesn't only possess a pair of fast hands and feet and quick body movement, but he has other qualities such as non-telegraphic moves, good coordination, perfect balance and keen awareness. Although some people are endowed with a few of these qualities, most of these attributes are developed...
In working with regulated industries over the past eight years, many EPA regulatory reinvention initiatives
have recognized an emerging and very real redefinition of the manufacturing landscape. Largely, this
movement has arisen in the context of today’s increasingly competitive “immediate” global market,
requiring companies to conceive and deliver products faster, at lower cost, and of better quality than their
