A straightforward way for cross-language document summarization is to translate the summary from the source language to the target language by using machine translation services. However, though machine translation techniques have been advanced a lot, the machine translation quality is far from satisfactory, and in many cases, the translated texts are hard to understand.
The lake ecosystem of Hanoi has a very important role. However, the water quality in the lakes of Hanoi is declining; they're more and more polluted. Among that, eutrophication is the most popular one. Therefore, the assessment and prediction of eutrophication is necessary. One of the effective tools for assessing and predicting eutrophycation is the use of mathematical models. In this paper, we used the Vollenweider model, empirical watershed model and Jorgensen model to determine the eutrophycation of Bay Mau Lake by phosphorous concentration in the lake water.
Text prediction is the task of suggesting text while the user is typing. Its main aim is to reduce the number of keystrokes that are needed to type a text. In this paper, we address the influence of text type and domain differences on text prediction quality. By training and testing our text prediction algorithm on four different text types (Wikipedia, Twitter, transcriptions of conversational speech and FAQ) with equal corpus sizes, we found that there is a clear effect of text type on text prediction quality: training and testing on the same text type gave percentages of saved...
Concerns about the cost and quality of health care have resulted in a national effort to determine the health outcomes of medical and surgical services. This report concentrates on developing criteria that risk-assessment systems should meet to permit consumers to intelligently evaluate them. It also presents a comparison of several selected mortality prediction models.......
Identifying peer-review helpfulness is an important task for improving the quality of feedback that students receive from their peers. As a first step towards enhancing existing peerreview systems with new functionality based on helpfulness detection, we examine whether standard product review analysis techniques also apply to our new context of peer reviews. In addition, we investigate the utility of incorporating additional specialized features tailored to peer review.
Web search engines today typically show results as a list of titles and short snippets that summarize how the retrieved documents are related to the query. However, recent research suggests that longer summaries can be preferable for certain types of queries. This paper presents empirical evidence that judges can predict appropriate search result summary lengths, and that perceptions of search result quality can be affected by varying these result lengths. These findings have important implications for search results presentation, especially for natural language queries. ...
This paper presents a method for adapting a language generator to the strengths and weaknesses of a synthetic voice, thereby improving the naturalness of synthetic speech in a spoken language dialogue system. The method trains a discriminative reranker to select paraphrases that are predicted to sound natural when synthesized. The ranker is trained on realizer and synthesizer features in supervised fashion, using human judgements of synthetic voice quality on a sample of the paraphrases representative of the generator’s capability. ...
In this paper we describe a f l e x i b l e analysls-synthesls system which can be used for a number of studies In speech research. The maln objective Is to have a synthesis system whose characteristics can be controlled through a set of parameters to realize any desired voice characteristics. The basic synthesis scheme consists of two steps: Generationof an excitation signal f r o m pitch and galn contours and excitation of the linear system model described by linear prediction coefficients, W show that e a number of basic studies such as time expansion/...
What can be determined from such a heterogeneous aggregation of studies, concern-
ing a wide array of predictands and involving such a variety of judges, mechanical
combination methods, and data? Quite a lot, as it turns out. To summarize these data
quantitatively for the present purpose (see Grove et al., 2000, for details omitted here),
we took the median difference between all possible pairs of clinical versus mechanical
predictions for a given study as the representative outcome of that study.
We hope that readers will find valuable information and interesting new
material in the chapters of it.
Since biomass means many things to so many people, it is no wonder that

According to the Government Chief Scientist, Professor Sir David King and to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), climate change is the biggest threat to our environment, with significant impacts across the globe. The UK is committed to the Kyoto protocol and to building an international consensus for cutting emissions and limiting the effects of climate change.
The wide proliferation of wireless communications unavoidably leads to the scarcity
of frequency spectra. On one hand, wireless users become increasingly difficult to find
available frequency bands for communications. On the other hand, many preallocated
frequency bands are ironically under-utilized and thus the resources there are simply
wasted. This situation leads to the introduction of cognitive radio, which was
proposed in the last decade to address this dilemma.
The key QO staff listed above has the authority to identify quality problems and to recommend,
provide, and verify implementation of solutions. If there is evidence that the QMP is not being

In the study performed by Purushotham et al. (2011) showed that about 28% of total
hardness in the study site exceeded the desirable limits at 600 mg L-1. Naturally, the water
hardness is due to the presence of alkaline earths such as calcium (Ca) and magnesium
(Mg). Excess of magnesium affects the soil quality, which results in poor crops yield. The
high concentration of magnesium and calcium can cause decrease in water quality and may
cause encrustation in the water supply structure.
It could be argued that the prevailing sense of interest rate predictability at the time of the
“conundrum” combined with a banking system willing to take huge duration exposures would
have made a policy of bond sales ineffective. But it should be remembered that this sense of
interest rate predictability was itself deliberately nurtured by the Federal Reserve policy of a
“measured pace” in increasing the Federal funds rate. The Federal Reserve was anxious to
avoid a bond market collapse similar to the one that took place around the early 1994
When planning how to reduce the threat of global warming and how to adapt to it, a
very important piece of information is how intense the change will be. That implies
estimating the trends of future concentrations of greenhouse gasses, and the potential
future changes in temperature, precipitation, storm events and other climatic
variables. These predictions are important not only to estimate the magnitude of the
changes, but also to determine the uncertainty surrounding them.
The water quality of lakes in Hanoi has been declining. In that, eutrophycation is the most popular. One of the effective tools for its accessing and predicting is the use of mathematical models. This paper used the Vollenweider model, Empirical watershed model and Jorgensen model to determine the eutrophycation of West Lake by Phosphorous concentration in the lake water. The results given by the models show that the ability of Eutrophication of West Lake is very high, because the content of Phosphorous in the lake exceed allowable value of standard (0.03mg/l) many times.
The use of implants has, little by little, been imposed
on the world of dentistry. Some years ago,
it was strongly suggested that the practitioners
asked implant patients to sign a consent form to
release the dentist from all responsibility in case of
failure. Then, one day a patient in France sued his
dentist for having prepared his teeth for a fixed
partial denture without suggesting the implant alternative.
The patient won the case. Soon it might
be necessary to ask patients to sign a form indicating
that they have refused implant treatment.
The available data does, however, suggest that present PM10 values exceed the recommended limit values
in the majority of Member States. In future projections, planned actions should be taken into
consideration. These include the SOx and NOx Protocols within UNECE and the Auto-Oil programme.
Abatement policies for other pollutants will also have an impact.
