It’s been over 10 years since I was first introduced to R. Back then, I was a young
product development manager at DoubleClick, a company that sold advertising
software for managing online ad sales. I was working on inventory prediction: estimating
the number of ad impressions that could be sold for a given search term, web
page, or demographic characteristic. I wanted to play with the data myself, but we
couldn’t afford a piece of expensive software like SAS or MATLAB. I looked around
for a little while, trying to find an open-source statistics package, and stumbled on

Object orientation has now invaded traditional relational database-management systems. Oracle™ without exception has included object-oriented features in its system. SQL is now richer due to these additional features. However, the object-oriented elements in Oracle™ will not be fully utilized without a proper database design. For example, a database application designed using a traditional database modeling, such as entity-relationship (E/R) modeling, will not be able to make use of most object-oriented features in Oracle™.

The family of Yorke first came into prominence with the great Chancellor Philip Yorke, first Earl of
Hardwicke. This remarkable man, who was the son of an attorney at Dover, descended, it is claimed, from the
Yorkes of Hannington in North Wiltshire, a family of some consequence in the fifteenth and sixteenth
centuries, was born in that town in the year 1690, and rose from a comparatively humble station to the
commanding position he held so long in English public life.
The original purpose of the book was to introduce a standard nomenclature of disease names, and the attributes are o r g a n i z e d in conventional medical form: a d e f i n i t i o n consists of a brief d e s c r i p t i o n of the relevant symptoms, signs, laboratory findings, and the like. Each disease is, in addition, assigned to one (or at most two) of eleven disease categories which enumerate p h y s i o l o g i c a l systems (skin, respiratory, cardiovascular, etc.).
I As a user interacts with a database or expert system, s/he may reveal a misconception about the objects modeled by the system. This paper discusses the R O M P E R system for responding to such misconceptions in a domain independent and context sensitive fashion. R O M P E R reasons about possible sources of the misconception. It operates on a model of the user and generates a cooperative response based on this reasoning. The process is made context sensitive by augmenting the user model with a new notion of object perspective which highlights certain...

The way you access an object’s properties and methods is with the - operator (a dash followed by a greater-than sign, with no space in between). Even if you don’t know anything about OOP, it shouldn’t take long to work out what the following code does (try to guess, and then read the next paragraph to see if you were right): // use class methods to validate individual fields $val-isInt('age'); $val-removeTags('name', 0, 0, 1); $val-checkTextLength('comments',...

(BQ) The book examines the elements of computer security, employee roles and responsibilities, and common threats. It discusses the legal requirements that impact security policies, including Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Detailing physical security requirements and controls, this updated edition offers a sample physical security policy and includes a complete list of tasks and objectives that make up an effective information protection program.

We measured and tested whether the following variables affect walking (basis:
200m buffer around each child's shortest walking path): number of busy intersections
crossed, intersection and street density, total daily vehicle-miles traveled, average
vehicle speed along the route, population density, and land use (R Wilson, 2008).
Sidewalk coverage data do not exist for Roseville and could not be tested in the model.
We refined the model through systematic testing of independent variables as the differ-
ence in log-likelihood ratios.
IT was the age of chain armour and tournaments--of iron barons and barons' wars--of pilgrims and armed
pilgrimages--of forests and forest outlaws--when Henry III. reigned as King of England, and the feudal
system, though no longer rampant, was still full of life and energy; when Louis King of France, afterwards
canonised as St. Louis, undertook one of the last and most celebrated of those expeditions known as the
Crusades, and described as 'feudalism's great adventure, and popular glory.
The overall objective of the project is to increase food security and income of rural Vietnamese in coastal communities by improving the profitability, and environmental sustainability, of intensive aquaculture in Vietnam. This addresses identified priorities of the CARD Program to build capacity in areas of fisheries and aquaculture and livestock feed improvement. This will be delivered by building the teaching and research base for aquaculture nutrition at the University of Fisheries (UoF) at Nha Trang.

In these days when books on every conceivable subject are written in their thousands annually; when monthly
journals are produced by scores, and daily newspapers in hundreds, to supply the public with a record of the
world's doings; and when readers are found for them all, it may not be thought unfitting that each large mail
centre in the United Kingdom which contributes by its postal and telegraph organisation to the dissemination
of much of this literature, should in its turn have some record of its own doings.

Chapter 12 - Pure monopoly. This chapter is divided into seven learning objectives: the characteristics of pure monopoly, the barriers to entry that create and protect monopolies, how demand is viewed by a monopolist, price and output determination under monopoly, the economic effects of monopoly, price discrimination, and the regulation of monopolies.
