The price premium charged for competitive-market products depends on several factors
including the price of standard offer or default service, the availability of incentives to green
power marketers or suppliers, and the cost of renewable energy generation available in the
regional market. Some marketers have charged prices close to or even below the default market
price in recent years (e.g., in Texas); others have offered fixed-price products, providing
customers with protection against increasing prices for a specified period of time, usually one
Banking sector reforms have been sequenced to correspond with changing regulations of the foreign
exchange market. The government has allowed the exchange rate to gradually float (as opposed to a
“crawling” peg), and full current account convertibility has been introduced, with de facto capital
account convertibility for nonresidents, and calibrated liberalization for residents.
Influenza. Even though influenza viruses usually cause URIs
in adults, they are increasingly being recognized as an impor-
tant cause of LRIs in children and perhaps the second most
important cause after RSVs of hospitalization of children with
an ARI (Neuzil and others 2002).Although influenza is consid-
ered infrequent in developing countries, its epidemiology
remains to be investigated thoroughly. The potential burden of
influenza as a cause of death in children is unknown. Influenza
virus type A may cause seasonal outbreaks, and type B may
cause sporadic infection.
In August 2001, the Directorate of Acquisition Resources and Analysis in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) asked the RAND Corporation to identify policy issues relevant to large service acquisitions that deserved closer attention in OSD. RAND agreed to examine a variety of new large acquisitions o
More intensive use of the reserve components in national defense in recent years has resulted in greater attention being paid to the adequacy and efficiency of the reserve compensation system. Four bills are pending in Congress to reduce the age when reservists can begin to receive retirement benefits. One would allow
This book is intended to attract the attention of practitioners and researchers from industry and academia interested in challenging paradigms of multimedia video coding, with an emphasis on recent technical developments, cross-disciplinary tools and implementations. Given its instructional purpose, the book also overviews recently published video coding standards such as H.264/AVC and SVC from a simulational standpoint.
There is no doubt that the protection of women during pregnancy and lactation must be one
of the major priorities of health systems and social policies. The effect of women’s nutritional
status on pregnancy outcomes is particularly strong, and adequate maternal nutrition is
closely related to the survival and well-being of babies and children. However, not all women
are mothers, and their nutritional and health needs go far beyond motherhood and
Women of all ages in developing countries face elevated risks of nutritional deficiencies.
To get interested consumers to your website, the site needs to be visible to surfers
using Google. Why is Google so important? The research firm Hitwise which measures
Web audiences, estimates that Google has 72% of the US search engine market,
versus 17.9 % for Yahoo. Microsoft’s two search services, MSN and Live.com,
constitute a distant third, at a combined 5.4 percent. Many website owners who track
where their visitors come from report that Google’s search engine now refers 80 to 90%
of their visitors.
For optimal results on Google you will want...
The writing of second language learners of English often presents problems that are
different from those found in the writing of native English speaking students. These
include culturally conditioned rhetorical patterns that sound ‘strange’ to the native
speaker ear as well as unfamiliar grammatical errors that are simply not found in
native speaker writing.
Particularly for rented apartments, key control by apartment management is an
important issue. Large jury awards have been made to victims of crimes in
apartments because of negligent key control and use of a master key.
A resident gives up some rights when they move into a multi-residential property. In
most cases, the resident, per written agreement, cannot add or replace the lock on
their door unless management is given an extra key. By doing this, the management
assumes the responsibility of and legal liability for key control.
The abuse of amphetamines is of national concern from a public health
perspective. Review of this subject is timely and important, because the
problem of amphetamine-like drugs has recently been amplified by the
introduction of designer drugs in the illicit market. There has been an
increasing number of attempts by chemists in clandestine laboratories to
synthesize structurally altered congeners that might intensify the moodaltering
property of this class of compounds.
The first conclusion of the review was that the later generation of social
funds had better integration of sustainability elements in their project
design than the earlier generation of social funds. There was more em-
phasis on active community participation throughout the project cycle,
including at the disbursement and supervision stages in cases when user
committees organized maintenance and operated accounts from which
they disbursed resources.
• Marketing requirements document (MRD). This is the busi-
ness or marketing team’s analysis of the world. The goal is to
explain what business opportunities exist and how a project
can exploit those opportunities. In some organizations, this is
a reference document to help decision makers in their think-
ing. In other organizations, it is the core of project definition
and everything that follows derives strongly from it. MRDs
help to define the “what” of a project.
• Vision/scope document.
The current RSS polling mechanism has been said to
scale well because “its cost is almost directly propor-
tional to the number of subscribers” . In fact, linear
cost is typically an indicator of poor scaling properties,
especially when that cost is focused on one member of a
distributed system. It is likely that the further growth of
RSS adoption will be badly stunted, without substantial
change to the way micronews is distributed.
Computer vision is one of the most studied subjects of recent times with paramount
focus on stereo vision. Lot of activities in the context of stereo vision are getting
reported spanning over vast research spectrum including novel mathematical ideas,
new theoretical aspects, state of the art techniques and diverse range of applications.
The book is a new edition of stereo vision book series of INTECH Open Access
Publisher and it presents diverse range of ideas and applications highlighting current
research/technology trends and advances in the field of stereo vision.
This study forms part of a longitudinal study (the main
study) on a population consisting of institutionalised peo-
ple aged 52–102 living in the Province of Granada, Spain.
Data was collected from April 2009 to September 2010.
The main study’s inclusion criteria were to have at least
three natural teeth and/or to wear dentures. 369 residents
were examined at baseline. During the 12-month follow-
up period 102 participants were retired from the study, 66
because they died and 36 because of other causes.
Over the next 100 years, climate models suggest that
warmer temperatures will very likely lead to greater climate
variability and an increase in the risk of hydrologic extremes,
i.e., floods and droughts. Perhaps the most significant
and likely impact is a change in the timing of runoff in
watersheds with large amounts of winter snowfall as higher
temperatures lead to an increase in the ratio of rain to snow,
faster snowmelt runoff, and earlier loss of snow.
Institutions and individuals involved in human subjects research may establish financial
relationships related to or separate from particular research projects. Those financial
relationships may create financial interests of monetary value, such as payments for services,
equity interests, or intellectual property rights. A financial interest related to a research study
may be a conflicting financial interest. The Department recognizes that some conflicting
financial interests in research may affect the rights and welfare of human subjects.

The earth's magnetic field has two magnetic poles. These magnetic poles are
the magnetic South Pole and North Pole.
The earth's magnetic poles are located at approximately 12° offset from the
earth's geographical poles. At the magnetic North Pole, the gridlines of the
magnetic field are vertical to the earth's surface. The needle of a compass, for
example, will point to this magnetic pole.
At the magnetic South Pole, the magnetic lines leave the earth’s surface. The
earth’s magnetic field does not run parallel to the earth’s surface.
