The most established nationwide medical registry in Germany is the Perinatal Registry, which collects
maternal health records concerning pregnancy, delivery and perinatal outcome from now more than
1100 hospitals. Over the past 16 years, data collection was transformed from printed questionnaires to
digital records. A special web-based information source of the German Perinatal Registry does not
Vocabulary in Context was written especially for you. The program was designed to enrich your personal word bank with many hundreds of high-frequency and challenging words. This book presents topic-related readings with key terms in context. Follow-up exercises provide a wide variety of practice activities to help you unlock the meanings of unfamiliar words. These strategies include the study of synonyms and antonyms; grammatical word forms; word roots, prefixes, and suffixes; connotations; and the efficient use of a dictionary and thesaurus.

Women constitute a special group within prisons because of their sex. Although the
characteristics and corresponding needs of women prisoners can vary considerably between
countries, several factors are common to most. These include many mental disorders, a high
level of drug or alcohol dependence, many women experiencing sexual and physical abuse and
violence before or in prison, the neglect of gender-specific health care needs and additional
issues related to the women’s responsibility for children and families.
Even if all credit data regarding consumers held at credit repositories were accurate,
complete, and current, there would be significant concerns about the fairness of
automated credit scoring programs. Converting the complex and often conflicting
information contained in credit reports into a numerical shorthand is a complex process,
and requires a significant number of interpretive decisions to be made at the design level.
The present volume has been published with two main objects. The writer has attempted to exhibit, in outline,
the leading features of the international history of the two countries which, in 1707, became the United
Kingdom. Relations with England form a large part, and the heroic part, of Scottish history, relations with
Scotland a very much smaller part of English history.
Kernel based methods dominate the current trend for various relation extraction tasks including protein-protein interaction (PPI) extraction. PPI information is critical in understanding biological processes. Despite considerable efforts, previously reported PPI extraction results show that none of the approaches already known in the literature is consistently better than other approaches when evaluated on different benchmark PPI corpora.
In recognition of the relevance and importance of the
financing and investment dimension, the Parties to
the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC), requested the Secretariat to analyse
and assess investment flows that will be necessary to
address climate change mitigation and adaptation in
an effective and meaningful way, with a special focus
on developing countries’ needs. This publication is
the culmination of the assessment undertaken by the
As California local agencies are becoming involved in the

This report is intended to provide treasury managers and

Obesity is associated with a high prevalence of erectile dysfunction; how-ever, the pathophysiological link between obesity and erectile dysfunction
remains poorly understood. In this minireview, we have attempted to eval-uate the existing literature pertaining to obesity and erectile dysfunction to
determine whether a common pathophysiological link exists.
Example-based parsing has already been proposed in literature. In particular, attempts are being made to develop techniques for language pairs where the source and target languages are different, e.g. Direct Projection Algorithm (Hwa et al., 2005). This enables one to develop parsed corpus for target languages having fewer linguistic tools with the help of a resourcerich source language.
We propose an approach for extracting relations between entities from biomedical literature based solely on shallow linguistic information. We use a combination of kernel functions to integrate two different information sources: (i) the whole sentence where the relation appears, and (ii) the local contexts around the interacting entities. We performed experiments on extracting gene and protein interactions from two different data sets. The results show that our approach outperforms most of the previous methods based on syntactic and semantic information. ...
Command relations are important tools in linguistics, especially in a n a p h o r a theory. In this paper I present an indexing technique which allows us to implement a simple and efficient check for most cases of c o m m a n d relations which have been presented in linguistic literature. I also show a wide perspective of applications for the indexing technique in the implementation of other linguistic phenomena in syntax as well as in semantics.
Consulting is a knowledge-intensive industry, in which human resources are considered
to be the most important asset. This industry, which had been flourishing
until recently, has attracted the interest of academia, private business, public authorities
and even journalists. As a result, a broad range of issues related to this
sector have been explored in detail. However, only a few contributions deal with
personnel or human resource management.
Globally, the production quantities of agricultural commodities are increasingly
fluctuating, and crop yields are low in relation to the needs of the world population.
Furthermore, arthropod pests destroy 20-30% of the world’s food supply every year.
They damage agricultural crops and harvested food, as well as transmit diseases to
humans and animals. Stored-product insects infest raw grain, processed cereals,
warehouses, and flour and feed mills. The presence of insects in commodities or
structures leads to quantitative and qualitative losses of grain and processed food....
The First Conference of French-Speaking African Countries on Men’s Participation in
Reproductive Health was held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from March 30 to April 3,
1998. It was organized to share experiences and lessons learned over the past decade
among African organizations about communicating with men on reproductive health
Nutritional Biochemistry takes a scientific approach to nutrition. It covers not just "whats"--nutritional requirements--but why they are required for human health, by describing their function at the cellular and molecular level. Each case study either leads to a subsequent discovery or enables an understanding of the physiological mechanisms of action of various nutrition-related processes. The text is "picture-oriented" and the commentary is directed towards explaining graphs, figures, and tables. ...
In the time it takes you to make just one in-person sales
call, you could stay at your office, pick up the telephone, and
potentially reach dozens, if not hundreds, of potential prospects,
using basic outbound telemarketing efforts.
Automatic sampler (optional)—The sampler must incorporate glass sample
containers for the collection of a minimum of 250 mL of sample. Sample
containers must be kept refrigerated at 4°C and protected from light during
compositing. If the sampler uses a peristaltic pump, a minimum length of
compressible silicone rubber tubing may be used. Before use, however, the
compressible tubing should be thoroughly rinsed with methanol, followed by
repeated rinsings with distilled water to minimize the potential for contamination
of the sample.
