Donation for research purposes may differ in important ways from donation for treatment
purposes. While both forms of donation seek to benefit others, the contribution that any one
research donor or healthy volunteer makes to the health of any other identifiable person is
exceptionally hard to pin down. A move away from a primarily altruistic model in donation for
research purposes may therefore pose a lesser challenge to solidarity and common values than
such a move in connection with donation for treatment.
From within the small yet growing body of research focused upon CAM use for pregnancy
[2,5], the majority has examined pregnant women’s use of discrete supplements or treatments
and, despite recommendations [23,24], there has been little exploration of women’s
consultations with CAM practitioners. One exception is a recent longitudinal cohort study
(n=535) which identified no significant change in this prevalence rate over a 10 year
period compared with non-pregnant women.
As email marketing continues to mature, and digital communications expand, organizations need to
become even more strategic in email campaign implementation, to
deliver value on subscriber’s terms. To accomplish this goal, email
marketers must exceed the rising expectations of email subscribers
and ISPs. Subscribers demand organizations speak to their unique
interests and communication preferences.
Because of overcrowded inboxes, consumers also seek new, more
efficient tools with which to review emails.
Environmental toxins, including exposure to lead, pesticides, and other chemicals,
unquestionably affect fertility in men and women. Researchers have documented many
examples, the strongest cases involving industrial and occupational exposures. These usually
involve small numbers of people exposed to high levels of contamination.
At the same time, however, economists were proposing effluent taxes as a policy that
could both generate incentives to meet ambient quality targets and minimize the costs of doing
Moreover, proponents of effluent fees received a receptive hearing in the political arena.
The Environmental Pollution Panel of the President’s Science Advisory Committee
recommended in 1965 “that careful study be given to tax-like systems in which all polluters
would be subject to ‘effluent charges’ in proportion to their contribution to pollution ….
We are pleased to offer our committee’s report on guidelines for human embryonic
stem cell research. This report and its recommendations are the result of many
hours of committee meetings as well as a public workshop. During those sessions we
heard from many dedicated and talented people who represent a wide range of
views. We have tried to take these diverse perspectives into account in a report that
mirrors the seriousness with which we have reflected upon them.
Objectives: Identifying the salinity tolerance and phenotype of the rice lines which carrying the Saltollocus (donor plant), imported from International Rice Research Institute, as well as selecting the popularly grown rice cultivar were used as the recipient plant Applying marker assisted backcrossing (MABC) to pyramid salinity tolerance Saltol locus into Bac Thom 7, in order to generate the high quality rice variety with salinity tolerance for growing the coastal areas in Red River Delta.
My research uses the economic approach to analyze social issues that range
beyond those usually considered by economists. This lecture will describe
the approach, and illustrate it with examples drawn from past and current
Unlike Marxian analysis, the economic approach I refer to does not
assume that individuals are motivated solely by selfishness or gain. It is a
method of analysis, not an assumption about particular motivations. Along
with others, I have tried to pry economists away from narrow assumptions
about self interest.
Ensuring that children are healthy and able to learn is an essential part of an effective
education system. As many studies show, education and health are inseparable. A child’s
nutritional status affects cognitive performance and test scores; illness from parasitic
infection results in absence from school, leading to school failure and dropping out (Vince
Whitman et al., 2001). Structures and conditions of the learning environment are as
important to address as individual factors. Water and sanitation conditions at school can
affect girls’ attendance.
An international panel of experts in areas of relevance to obesity provided
guidance for the study. This synthesis research encompassed a comprehensive
search of medical/academic and grey literature and the Internet covering the years
1982–2003. The appraisal approach developed to identify best practice was
unique, in that it considered not only methodological rigour, but also population
health, immigrant health and programme development/evaluation perspectives in
Much of the literature concerning health benefits of physical activity is based on studies
done primarily with men. Only recently have large-scale studies been initiated to investigate
the effects of physical activity on women’s health and wellness. Chris Wells, the author of this
paper, has been a pioneer in the study of physical activity for women. As you will see, much
more research studying girls and women is necessary, but much has been accomplished in
recent years. Diseases often thought to be “diseases of men” affect women as well as men.

In too many companies, Sales and Marketing
feud like Capulets and Montagues.
Salespeople accuse marketers of being out
of touch with what customers really want
or setting prices too high. Marketers insist
that salespeople focus too myopically on
individual customers and short-term sales
at the expense of longer-term profits.
Result? Poor coordination between the two
teams—which only raises market-entry
costs, lengthens sales cycles, and increases
cost of sales.
How real are the women characters in Hindi films? This is something to debate about because values, ideals,
principles; morals have dominated the frame-work in which these films are placed. Thus, women rather than
being depicted as normal human beings are elevated to a higher position of being ideal who can commit no
wrong. Their grievances, desires, ambitions, feelings, perspectives are completely missing from the scene. They
are really portrayed as the „other‟ because they are shown as not belonging to this real and worldly life.
The criteria used to assess measurements are summarised in Table 2.1. Full details are
not presented here but have been documented and are available on request (Appendix 2).
On the basis of the assessment, proposals were presented in December, January, March
and April and reviewed by all project participants (steering group, expert group, project
The wide range of interests and responsibilities of participants meant that an element of
compromise was essential, given realistic expectations of resource availability.
Crossbreeding work in Ethiopia was initiated in the early 1950s. Following this initiation
a number of governmental (example, Ethiopian Agricultural Research Organization,
Ministry of Agriculture, National Artificial Insemination Center, Higher Learning Institutes)
and non-governmental organizations (International Livestock Research Institute and
Swedish International Development Agency) have worked in the development of the

Analytical model for the photocurrent-voltage characteristics of bilayer MEH-PPV/TiO2 photovoltaic devices
Chong Chen1, Fan Wu1, Hongwei Geng1, Wei Shen1 and Mingtai Wang1,2*
Abstract The photocurrent in bilayer polymer photovoltaic cells is dominated by the exciton dissociation efficiency at donor/acceptor interface. An analytical model is developed for the photocurrent-voltage characteristics of the bilayer polymer/TiO2 photovoltaic cells.
Ooplasmic transfer involves egg retrieval from the woman undergoing IVF and another woman
donating ooplasm (the cytoplasm of an egg cell: the material outside the nucleus). The egg is
then fertilized with sperm and implanted into the woman intending to become pregnant. The
resulting child has DNA from both women because of the mitochondrial DNA present in the
ooplasm of the donor, as well as DNA from the sperm provider (partner or donor), and therefore
has three genetic parents. It had been used for women whose infertility seemed to stem from the
ooplasm in their eggs.
This multiple-case study focuses on the practices and functions of customer reference marketing, and on the
ways through which customer references can be deployed as marketing assets. The research is based on
multiple-case-study methodology and the empirical findings were derived from an in-depth analysis of 38
semi-structured personal interviews with managers in four case companies operating in the fields of process
and information technology.
It is said that farms having land to grow crops and forage (PK-3 and PK-10R) were relatively most
competitive. The PK-10R farm is said to be most viable farm size, and has the potential of challenging
competitors in export markets6. Such farms make effective use of technological advances in breeding
practices, e.g., artificial insemination, to improve their herd quality. Some of them have also installed their
own pasteurization or processing equipment. However, there are only 23% of farmers who fall in the
PK-10R category, whereas 70% of the farmers have less than four animals.
