  • Mr. Phileas Fogg lived, in 1872, at No.7, Saville Row, Burlington Gardens, the house in which Sheridan died in 1814. He was one of the most noticeable members of the Reform Club, though he seemed always to avoid attracting attention; an enigmatical personage, about whom little was known, except that he was a polished man of the world. People said that he resembled Byron--at least that his head was Byronic; but he was a bearded, tranquil Byron, who might live on a thousand years without growing old. • About Le Fanu: Sheridan Le Fanu was born at No. 45 Lower Dominick Steet, Dublin, into a literary family of Huguenot origins. Both his grandmother Alicia Sheridan Le Fanu and his great-uncle Richard Brinsley Sheridan were playwrights. His niece Rhoda Broughton would become a very successful novelist. Within a year of his birth his family moved to the Royal Hibernian Military School in Phoenix Park, where his father, an Anglican clergyman, was the chaplain of the establishment. Phoenix Park and the adjacent village and parish church of Chapelizod were to feature in Le Fanu's later stories.

Then...

  • A necessary caveat is that we consider a specific LSM, comparing it to a specific model of internal queues. Other LSMs, perhaps associated with different settlement rules, may yield different outcomes. For example, one could think of a system where all payments (even those sent to the RTGS stream) are first passed through the LSM. Then, if LSM settlement does not happen instantly because a cycle has not formed, the urgent RTGS payments are immediately settled by transferring liquidity.
