Media Piracy in Emerging Economies is the first independent, large-scale study of music, film and software piracy in emerging economies, with a focus on Brazil, India, Russia, South Africa, Mexico and Bolivia. Based on three years of work by some thirty five researchers, Media Piracy in Emerging Economies tells two overarching stories: one tracing the explosive growth of piracy as digital technologies became cheap and ubiquitous around the world, and another following the growth of industry lobbies that have reshaped laws and law enforcement around copyright protection.
The Quality Frame can either be applied with or
without the use of a rating scale for each of the key
criteria and standards. Use of a rating scale is a valuable
tool if one wishes to make comparisons between
projects, or if the intention is to gain an overview of
the quality of a large portfolio of projects over time.
In a country like the US, That is founded upon competitions and capitalism, producing
clever television advertisements is the only way to keep up with a company’s competitors. If this
means that false information must be presented by doctors, athletes, or celebrities to promote a
product, then so be it. The US believes in freedom of speech, and the first amendment certainly
protects the company’s right to advertise in a testimonial fashion.
During pre-service training you may have been given a TEFL or TESL handbook developed by
the staff in the country to which you have been posted. Or you may have a copy of the Peace
Corps ICE manual, TEFL/TESL: Teaching English as a Foreign or Second Language (Whole
Ice Catalog No. M 41). Look through these manuals occasionally. Some of the activities you
never really noticed before in the frenzy of training might be just what you are looking for. Do you
read your copy of English Teaching Forum, the magazine put out for teachers of English by the
This unit deepens participants’ knowledge of change processes

This paper brings these issues to a unique data set that contains the monthly returns of
European-domiciled equity mutual fund managers over a 20-year period. Specically, we ask
whether an investor can outperform when she has access to country-specic managers across several
developed European markets, and is allowed to rotate the portfolio allocation among the countries
(and managers) as macroeconomic conditions in Europe evolve.
control for management company effects, we compare SRI and conventional funds run by the
same management company and find that performance differences become small and
statistically insignificant. These results suggest that differences between SRI and conventional
funds may be explained by management company-level factors that determine both fund
performance and the company's decision to manage SRI funds. We further explore this issue by
distinguishing between SRI funds run by management companies specialized in SRI and those
run by generalist companies.
Opportunity funds have delivered higher returns than core funds over the
period 2003-2009. While core fund returns have been especially
disappointing, deeper analysis suggests that the additional returns delivered
by the opportunity funds may not be adequate to compensate
investors for the significantly higher levels of risk taken by fund managers to
achieve these returns.
Protocols and data sources present other variables considered determining average and peak
load requirements. In terms of effect on EPS rates, our experience is that systems using UDP can
generate more events more quickly, but this creates a higher load for the management tool,
which actually slows collection and correlation when compared to TCP. One of our reviewing
analysts has seen UDP packets dropped at 3,000 EPS, while TCP could maintain a 100,000 EPS
load. It’s also been our experience that use of both protocols in single environment....
As with every hypothesis test, inference based on alpha estimates can lead to the detection
of a lucky fund, namely a fund with a significant estimated alpha, while its true
alpha is equal to zero. When a single performance test is run on the estimated alpha
of one fund (or one portfolio of funds1), luck is easily controlled by setting the significance
level γ (or alternatively the Size of the test). For instance, if γ is set to 0.05,
the probability of finding one lucky fund under the hypothesis that its alpha is zero
amounts to 0.05, by construction.
Subsequently, the thesis has four main purposes. The first relates to the comprehensive
evaluation of the performance of mutual funds in emerging markets and assesses style and
strategy used by fund managers in order to accomplish this. This study explores fund
performance at aggregated, style and fund levels and employs various models which evolved
in developed markets to estimate performance. Additionally, this study compares the results
with evidence from developed markets.
A huge battle is raging in the database community. The radicals
believe cyberspace is just one big XML document that should be
manipulated with xQuery++. The reactionaries believe that struc-
ture is your friend and that semi-structured data is a mess to be
avoided. Both camps are well represented within the database
community – often stratified by age. It is easy to say that the truth
lies somewhere ...

Chart the sequence of stages and steps to reflect the intrinsic and architectural
dependencies inherent in the project.
An output or product of one task will usually be the input to another, and this will
be the primary driver in determining the task dependencies and workflow.
Determine whether the successor task references (throughput) or updates (entry
requirement) the input product.
Some inputs may be sourced from outside the project. Identify these External
Inputs (e.g., Long Range System Plan, Standards, Project Initiation report of
another project, etc.).
All materials and products delivered to the job site are marked and tracked in accordance with
Section 5.3 (Materials) to ensure only acceptable materials are used and any rejected materials
are removed from the job site. The CQA inspectors verify and document material incorporated
into the project is from the approved list developed by the CQAM for material application.
The QO inspector documents in his daily inspection reports any issues with the acceptability,
handling, or storage of materials and notifies the PM and CM immediately.
Research on creativity tends to stress the importance of context-free
thought, the content of which is independent of what is present to the
senses of the agent. Indeed, the capacity to disregard what is real and turn
towards the imaginary is essential for creativity. Yet, this does not entail that
creativity in general, as an activity, is independent of the context in which
it occurs (Brinck 1999).
This morning I have reviewed the outlook, the Federal Reserve’s response, and its
policy options for the future should the recovery falter or inflation decline further.
In sum, the pace of recovery in output and employment has slowed somewhat in
recent months, in part because of slower-than-expected growth in consumer spending, as
well as continued weakness in residential and nonresidential construction. Despite this
recent slowing, however, it is reasonable to expect some pickup in growth in 2011 and in
The study finds that young women are ready and willing to participate in holistic
programs that respect their cultural backgrounds and build strong futures for themselves,
their families and their communities. Programming and supports need to encompass
both young womenís practical daily needs and their strategic long term needs, for both
are equally important. This has several of implications for how CED is delivered in inner-
city Winnipeg. It finds that a strong social safety net is a key support to economic
development efforts with young women.
The skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening are of vital importance in many
areas. Not only are they essential in many careers, they also underpin successful
study at all levels, and a proficiency in them can also add immeasurably to an
individual’s general quality of life. This specification is designed to aid and assess
such development, and to encourage learners to be inspired, moved and changed by
following a broad, coherent, satisfying and worthwhile course of study.
Through a number of technological advancements, IC3 has streamlined the way it processes
and refers victim complaints to law enforcement. In 2004, IC3 developed Automatch, an
automated internal complaint grouping and analytical search tool. The design of Automatch
is based on an assessment of the IC3 partnership aimed at defining a joint workflow for the
project partners with different service requirements.
