This paper presents an exploratory data analysis in lexical acquisition for adjective classes using clustering techniques. From a theoretical point of view, this approach provides large-scale empirical evidence for a sound classification. From a computational point of view, it helps develop a reliable automatic subclassification method. Results show that the features used in theoretical work can be successfully modelled in terms of shallow cues.

corpora, which may e.g. form part of an audiovisual library or archive.
The development of methods, tools and conceptual frameworks (or models) for
the concrete analysis of audiovisual texts or corpora is one of the most important
issues for multimedia (audiovisual) digital libraries, archives, collections, etc. and
also for any project or program to compile and disseminate knowledge heritage
(e.g. cultural, scientific etc.).
The emphasis on sensuous elements and on Gestalten founded thereon makes it clear that
Witasek's position is a formalist one. The `meanings' of works of art will have no role to play
within his theory. He has not even left room in his classification of aesthetic objects for what we
might call narrative entities: states of affairs, events, actions, etc., making up what we normally
think of as plot. There are of course many works of art whose adequate appreciation requires that
