The World Health Organization was established in
1948 as a specialized agency of the United Nations
serving as the directing and coordinating authority
for international health matters and public health.
One of WHO’s constitutional functions is to provide
objective and reliable information and advice
in the field of human health, a responsibility that it
fulfils in part through its publications programmes.
Through its publications, the Organization seeks to
support national health strategies and address the
most pressing public health concerns.
The NIMS provides a set of standardized organizational structures—such as the Incident
Command System (ICS), multi-agency coordination systems, and public information
systems—as well as requirements for processes, procedures, and systems designed to
improve interoperability among jurisdictions and disciplines in various areas, to include:
training; resource management; personnel qualification and certification; equipment
certification; communications and information management; technology support; and
continuous system improvement.
Adolescents, currently about 20 percent of the world’s population, have special
reproductive health concerns and face risks related to early sexual experience,
marriage and fertility. A rise in the age of marriage globally has contributed to
declines in adolescent fertility. However, up to 50 percent of women in some
countries still marry or enter a union by age 18, with this figure rising to 70 per-
cent by age 20. The proportion of young women married or in union by age 20 is
closely linked to adolescent fertility and exposure to reproductive health risks....
The aim of this book is to examine the public and private roles of the citizen as
a moral agent. We define the moral agent as a person who, rather than merely
behaving in a manner consistent with morality, recognizes morality as a motive
for action. The moral agent not only follows moral principles but also acknowledges
morality as his or her principal.
In developing the notion of the moral agent, we accord a special significance
to public administration.
Further, in Canada, asset default factors for preferred shares, where rated, are based on the
rating agency grade. For financial leases where rated, and the lease is also secured by the
general credit of the lessee, the asset default factor is based on the rating agency grade.
A ‘rule of law’ approach would promote mutual agreements and investments,
but be much tougher on their implementation. For example, the European
Commission should be given political support to apply competition policy
in the energy sector, and to investigate some of the more dubious deals
between Russian and EU companies. More generally, the EU should demand
the enforcement of the growing number of agreements which have not been
implemented – the PCA, the four Common Spaces and the European Energy
Navigant reconstructed the historical costs of the WTC program using the chronology of
periodic Port Authority presentations by prior Executive Directors and management to the
Board of Commissioners, project cost reports current as of October 2011, related documents,
and the findings of interviews to provide the Special Committee with the analysis of past
spending at the WTC site.
After several tarnishing bankruptcies in the US energy industry, i.e. Enron and
Pacific Gas & Electric company (PG&E), and the subsequent series of credit
rating downgrades by Rating Agencies, many industrial companies started to
realize that one of their most important risks, counterparty risk, is significantly
undermanaged. While market risk is the most watchful and largest risk faced by
energy companies, particularly for gas and power marketers, credit risk is the
next important factor. ...
Traditionally, health agencies determine potential adverse human health effects based on results of
published animal studies. It is difficult for many agencies to say for certain if a chemical is dangerous to
humans because there may be no published studies of human exposures.
Public health agencies examine all available data when evaluating chemicals.
International attention to governance of human cloning
began in earnest in August 2001 in the UN General
Assembly, when under rule 14 of the rules of procedure
of the General Assembly, the Permanent Missions of
France and Germany requested the Secretary-General
to include a supplementary item in the agenda of the
fi fty-sixth session entitled ‘International convention
against the reproductive cloning of human beings’.
In the explanatory memorandum, they recalled Art.

The Internet, in fact, has become an important tool of
dissemination for statistical agencies. Statistical agencies with a
website can now communicate directly with the public, a fact which
is revolutionizing the dissemination of information. This means
that information on the statistical organization’s website must be
written in such a way that it is understood by the vast majority of

There are many resources available to assist school staff and their partners in the health and
education sectors to plan, implement, and evaluate school health initiatives. These are in the form of
evidence-based guidelines, surveillance tools, assessment approaches, etcetera. Many of these
resources can be found on the websites of international organizations, as well as those country and
regional agencies and organizations (e.g. health and education ministries and non government
organizations) with responsibilities for promoting the health and educational outcomes of young
The Conference of Business and Economics Faculties Deans (3)
prepared a «White Book
of undergraduate studies in Business and Economics» (CONFEDE 2004), in collaboration
with several business and professional institutions. This report was later adopted by the
Government specialized Agency (ANECA) as a fundamental starting point.
Notwithstanding the previous discussion, given that the degree in «Business Administra-
tion» is the common-place degree in this fi eld at Spanish universities; we will focus on that
degree in this section, although we should mention that the general aspects of our discus-
sion apply to any of the aforementioned degrees.
Even though each university has full autonomy to prepare their curricula, the fact that the
curricula is evaluated by the Government specialized Agency (ANECA), generates a certain
tendency to follow the guidelines established in the ANECA White Book.
A strong board with the right members will make or break this transformation
process. Uncertainty will cause stress and require solid, timely, and well-informed
Reform requires more than a quarterly update or progress report. It requires
significant board buy-in and is only be possible if the board is thoroughly educated and
committed to transformation.
The agency may need to identify new board members with competencies that will
directly benefit the organization during the transformation process, i.e.
