At the same time the edu-
cation sector has usually attempted to develop an approach to health grounded
in educational parameters e.g. enhancing students’ knowledge and understand-
ing, developing their analytical and evaluative competencies about individual
and community health issues and providing opportunities for them to create
ideas and strategies to address such issues.
Immunosuppression significantly decreases the ability of young
poultry to respond effectively to standard vaccinations, and also
predisposes them to infection by other specific pathogens. How-
ever, sub-clinical immunosuppression is often not readily appar-
ent to the farmer, and therefore a common “silent” cause of
significant economic losses. Pathogens causing such infectious
disease conditions are termed “erosive” for site productivity
Of making many English grammars there is no end; nor should there be till theoretical scholarship and actual practice are more happily wedded. In this field much valuable work has already been accomplished; but it has been done largely by workers accustomed to take the scholar's point of view, and their writings are addressed rather to trained minds than to immature learners. To find an advanced grammar unencumbered with hard words, abstruse thoughts, and difficult principles, is not altogether an easy matter.
THE publication of this series of pamphlets has been undertaken to make available in a permanent form complete detailed directions for the preparation of various organic chemical reagents. In announcing this purpose it may be well to mention at the outset some of the difficulties in the way of the research chemist, which it is hoped this series will be able to overcome. The cost of chemicals is prohibitive to the majority of chemists; this was true before the war when Kahlbaum's
The suggested guidelines in this manual have been developed from a number of sources,
and most are applicable to a wide range of mass public gatherings. These sources focused
on youth audiences attending large rock concerts and competitive sporting events because
of the difficulties and major incidents historically associated with such events. Many of the
guidelines derived from such experiences are applicable to a broad range of other events
that present their own challenges.
Certain types of events have an inherent capacity for special management problems.
Many more women are active today compared to when the first studies of activity in America
were conducted. However, as a group, girls and women are still less active than boys and men.
Some of this difference in activity between males and females can be explained by the
historical disparity in opportunities for females. Since 1972, when Title IX was implemented,
more females have become involved in organized sport. We have yet to discover the effects of
this increased participation on lifetime activity among females....
Though it is widely recognized that the population of the United States is aging,
much of our current understanding in the field of individual decision making is based on
data from student populations. While this could be a consequence of subject availability,
it may reflect a common though largely unsubstantiated belief that decision making
ability declines with aging (Peters 2000). Many older individuals are productive and
intellectually viable throughout their lives. Still, others are vulnerable to dementia and
neurodegenerative illnesses, such as Alzheimer's disease.
The problem of reconciling environmental protection with economic and social viability
was a key concern of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in
Rio de Janiero, Brazil, in 1992. The Conference, known as the Earth Summit, led to the
establishment of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development. The Commission
is responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Conference programme of action, Agenda
21, at the local, national, regional and international levels.
This article will discuss the interweaving of that erotic pleasure in film, its meaning,
and in particular the central place of the image of woman. It is said that analysing
pleasure, or beauty, destroys it. That is the intention of this article. The satisfaction
and reinforcement of the ego that represent the high point of film history hitherto
must be attacked. Not in favour of a reconstructed new pleasure, which cannot exist
in the abstract, nor of intellectualised unpleasure, but to make way for a total
negation of the ease and plenitude of the narrative fiction film.
The governor’s office has expressed the view that, since Planned Parenthood affiliates
constitute just 2% of WHP providers, patients would have little difficulty finding alternative
providers. Our analysis indicates that in the markets they serve, Planned Parenthood affiliates
serve half, and sometimes much more than half, of all WHP patients.
ASRM and the College of American Pathologists administer a reproductive
laboratory accreditation program for embryology labs to assure that they conform
to high national standards of quality. ASRM also produces ethics and practice
guidelines. Its affiliate, the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology
(SART), strictly monitors member clinics for adherence to ASRM guidelines,
accreditation of their embryology labs, qualification of their staff, and submission
of data to the CDC.

Weblogs and message boards provide online forums for discussion
that record the voice of the public. Woven into this
mass of discussion is a wide range of opinion and commentary
about consumer products. This presents an opportunity
for companies to understand and respond to the consumer
by analyzing this unsolicited feedback. Given the
volume, format and content of the data, the appropriate approach
to understand this data is to use large-scale web and
text data mining technologies.
The chosen gait of the one-humped camel on free range is a leisurely but almost a
continuous walk. When walking the camel covers about 4 km/hour. They have often been
tracked to cover 50 km during a day’s feeding, but 30 km is very common.
Very young camels exhibit vigorous, spontaneous play, including some running and
jumping. By 2 to 3 weeks age they are involved in playgroups similar to those formed by
lambs, kids and buffalo/cow calves. These groups remain almost together between feeds.
Mature camels will hasten towards a feed supply, usually at a jog, but...
There is mixed opinion on the likelihood of continued long-term increase in
life expectancy. Most demographers including Vaupel and Lee (44, 45, 62) are
optimistic about continued increases in life expectancy and decreases in mortality
among older persons. Olshansky (63) has been a promoter of the idea that future
increases will be minimal.
The present volume deals with various practical problems in economics,
as a volume published a year earlier dealt with the broader economic
principles of value and distribution. To the student beginning
economics and to the general reader the study of principles is likely
to appear more difficult than does that of concrete questions. In
fact, the difficulty of the latter, tho less obvious, is equally
The translation of any work is at best a difficult task, and must inevitably be prejudicial to whatever of beauty the original possesses. When the principal charm of the original lies in its elegant simplicity, as in the case of the "Deutsche Liebe," the difficulty is still further enhanced. The translator has sought to reproduce the simple German in equally simple English, even at the risk of transferring German idioms into the English text. The story speaks for itself.
Often enough, staying in a hotel in a foreign town, I have wished to sally forth and to dine or breakfast at the typical restaurant of the place, should there be one. Almost invariably I have found great difficulty in obtaining any information regarding any such restaurant. The proprietor of the caravanserai at which one is staying may admit vaguely that there are eating-houses in the town, but asks why one should be anxious to seek for second-class establishments when the best restaurant in the country is to be found under his roof. The hall-porter has even less scruples,...
Two large cities stand opposite to one another on the banks of a river, it is not likely they can do very well without a bridge to connect them. Yet the citizens of New York and Brooklyn were obliged to manage as best they could for a good many years before they had their bridge. There were many difficulties in the way. For one thing, the river is very broad; for another, the tall-masted ships ply up and down so frequently that it would never do to build anything which would obstruct their passage; and to overcome these difficulties would...
The present inquiry is the outcome of a request to write an article on “Atheism” for a projected dictionary of the religious history of classical antiquity. On going through the sources I found that the subject might well deserve a more comprehensive treatment than the scope of a dictionary would allow. It is such a treatment that I have attempted in the following pages. A difficulty that occurred at the very beginning of the inquiry was how to define the notion of atheism. Nowadays the term is taken to designate the attitude which denies every idea of God. Even...
