  • This paper introduces the notion of a stability condition on a triangulated category. The motivation comes from the study of Dirichlet branes in string theory, and especially from M.R. Douglas’s work on Π-stability. From a mathematical point of view, the most interesting feature of the definition is that the set of stability conditions Stab(D) on a fixed category D has a natural topology, thus defining a new invariant of triangulated categories.

  • In the present paper, the stability of inverter-based microgrids is considered. A decentralized state-feedback control approach for inverter-based microgrids with a linear matrix inequality (LMI) stability condition is proposed. Controller gains for inverters are designed by solving the LMI optimization problem. The resulting controller stabilizes the system, guaranteeing zero steady-state frequency deviations.

  • FUZZY DESCRIPTOR SYSTEMS AND CONTROL This chapter deals with a fuzzy descriptor system defined by extending the original Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. A number of stability conditions for the fuzzy descriptor system are derived and represented in terms of LMIs. A motivating example for using the fuzzy descriptor system instead of the original Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is presented. An LMI-based design approach is employed to find stabilizing feedback gains and a common Lyapunov function.

This decision has been made in part because of the cost savings that can be realized due to decreased painting and maintenance requirements. However, recent studies have shown that this may not always be the case. This presentation will discuss some situations where bridges with weathering steel are underperforming and whether or not the situation can be rectified for future applications.

  • Sampling Biorthogonal Time Domain Method (SBTD) The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method was proposed by K. Yee [1] in 1966. The simplicity of the FDTD method in mathematics has proved to be its great advantage. The method does not involve any integral equations, Green’s functions, singularities, nor matrix equations. Neither does it involve functional or variational principles. In addition the FDTD proves to be versatile when used in complicated geometries.
