Most of the basic data consists of dichotomous responses, and much of the rest is made of responses on short scales. Neither type of data furnishes information that can inherently be considered more than ordinal. The dominant contemporary treatment of this data is to derive from it scores on interval-scale latent variables through the application of one or another"model" that is presumed to explain the data.

The score favors words that have a similar distribution in documents of the same class but different distributions in documents of different classes. Experiments on two standard data sets indicate that the new method outperforms mutual information, especially for smaller categories.

  • Currently I'm attending in a preparing course. And there are exams. I did well, got 85% in Ethics and 100% in Quantitative methods. However I think the scores are somehow misleading, I still don't feel so confident in any of these 2 fields. The book is really useful, specially in the field of quantitative methods. If you're going to take the test and you have enough time, I recommend reading this book instead of guide books such as Schweser Note.
