IWAS climbing the steep side of a central Wisconsin hill, holding my bow away from my body for balance, when I first saw the stranger. He sat on a stump at the crest and watched me struggle up. As I drew nearer I panted out a greeting and received his cheerful "Hi" in return. When I finally reached the top, I threw myself on the ground and began catching my breath. He didn't say anything at first, just looked at the bow and the quiver of arrows on my back. Finally he said, "May I look at it?" and reached...
Common to these episodes is a struggle to manage tensions associated with the (long-
term) movement of accountants into markets that have not been conventionally associated
with their professional expertise and status.
Being a beginner, I know what all beginners fear. Just like I first learnt ball room dancing, it took me almost 2 months to move like a robot, to struggle with music rythm and sway at the same time. I had to overcome the temptation of quitting several times before I could actually progress and enjoy the dances. Some of my friends, unfortunately, took the quick path to just give it up. In ball room dancing, the entry barrier was high enough to knock out a majority of beginners who had been earilier very eager to learn a new thing....
It then ends up in the nation's garbage dumps. Communities all around the country are struggling with the problem of where to put all this waste. Much of this excessive packaging serves only to make the products more attractive to consumers. It catches the eye but does not really protect the goods from damage.
The Internet, an upstart academic experiment in the late 1960s, struggles with identity and
success today. From the ARPANET to the NSFnet to ANYBODYSNET, the Internet is no
longer owned by a single entity; it is owned by anybody who can afford to buy space on it.
Tens of millions of users are seeking connectivity, and tens of thousands of companies are
feeling left out if they do not tap into the Internet. This has put network designers and
administrators under a lot of pressure to keep up with networking and connectivity needs.

Congratulations for making the decision to enroll in this class! As someone who has struggled with an anger problem I personally understand the damage it can do to your life; what its like to feel like you have a valid point to make, to feel like someone has really done you wrong and that you are in the right only to somehow or another end up expressing it looking like your problem. This only leaves you feeling more wronged, more hurt and more, ….well, angry.

One sure way to boost your odds of becoming successful is to have a mindset geared toward wealth and prosperity. Why? Because the actions you take on a daily basis – right down to the amount of effort you put toward your goals – stem directly from your state of mind. Believing you can accomplish something is the first step in actually doing it. Unfortunately many of us pay little attention to our mindset, and end up creating a whole lot of struggle and difficulty for ourselves in the process! The good news is that creating a wealth and prosperity...

Banks possed an enviable spot in the global economy. They're funnel in the capital formation process and the engine that keeps the car humming. Without banks, corporation would struggle to scrounge up money
Today’s Information Technology (IT) manager is under ever-increasing pressure to deliver results – in the form
of applications that drive improvements to the bottom line – even while IT budgets are being significantly
slashed. Meanwhile, despite the fall of the Internet economy business environments continue to change at a
rapid pace leaving many IT shops struggling to keep up with the pace of change. These changes have led to

We all know it’s not always easy as women to live up to what’s expected of
us in the 21st century. We’re supposed to run the family, the home and a job
and stillwe struggle with inequalities in thewaywomen are treated, particularly
around those everyday issues such as balancing home and family life,
or women’s lack of equal pay. It’s hardly surprising that the incidence of
stress and depression is rising. But we rarely encounter women who are
experiencing the severe and enduring conditions of mental illness and
distress that are described here....
After 1991, European governments grew accustomed to Russian acquiescence.
Moscow might have put up a struggle against European policies – from
humanitarian intervention in Kosovo, NATO and EU enlargement, to visa
arrangements for Kaliningrad and the Kyoto Protocol on climate change
– but the Kremlin’s bark always proved worse than its bite. The Russian
government, crippled by massive debt, financial instability and the war
in Chechnya, caved in each time because of its reliance on Western help. ...
At the Metropolitan Museum of Art are two pictures by the Florentine painter of the fifteenth century called
Piero di Cosimo. They represent hunting scenes, and the figures are those of men, women, fauns, satyrs,
centaurs, and beasts of the forests, fiercely struggling together.
In the year 1750, commissioners met at Paris to adjust the various boundaries of the North American
territories, M. de Galissoniere and M. de Silhouette on the part of France, and Messrs. Shirley and Mildmay
on the part of Great Britain. The English commissioners, however, soon perceived that there was little chance
of arriving at a friendly arrangement. The more they advanced in their offers, the more the French demanded;
futile objections were started, and unnecessary delays continued; at length Mr. Shirley and his colleague
broke up the conference, and returned to England. [1752.
On January 2, 1997, I showed up for my first day of work as the Executive Director of the Oregon League of Conservation Voters (Oregon LCV). The Board shouldn’t have hired me. I was only 30. I had zero fundraising experience, virtually no personnel supervision experience, and had only been involved previously with one other nonprofit organization. A few weeks into the job, I had the good fortune of attending a four-day boot camp designed for nonprofit Executive Directors. The boot camp was very valuable – almost a lifesaver as I struggled to learn new skills. ...
The environmental justice movement brings together all elements of the social justice
movement, espousing a more holistic definition of environment that embraces public
health, economic development, housing, energy and transportation as well as preservation of
natural resources. Environment is defined as where we live, work, learn and play. As children of
the larger civil rights movement, environmental justice advocates organize from the bottom up and
seek to cultivate and empower community-based leadership.
I was born in the city of Cork, Ireland, in 1830. My people were poor. For generations they had fought for
Ireland's freedom. Many of my folks have died in that struggle. My father, Richard Harris, came to America
in 1835, and as soon as he had become an American citizen he sent for his family. His work as a laborer with
railway construction crews took him to Toronto, Canada. Here I was brought up but always as the child of an
American citizen. Of that citizenship I have ever been proud.
After finishing the common schools, I attended the Normal school with the intention...
