  • Nutrient requirements for optimum health and function of aging physiological systems often are quite distinct from those required for young ones. Recognition and understanding of the special nutrition problems of the aged are being intensively researched and tested, especially due to the increases in the elderly in the general population. In developed countries, economic restrictions and physical inactivity during aging can significantly reduce food intakes, contributing to nutritional stresses and needs. Many disease entities and cancers are found with higher frequency in the aged.

  • It has been considered that vitamin E is the major membrane bound antioxidant employed in humans, and thus this lipophilic chain breaking antioxidant has the ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation. Synergistic actions between vitamin C and vitamin E therefore appear important in their preventive activity against lipid peroxidation. Human trials and in-vitro studies have shown that oxidative stress causes a rapid depletion of vitamin C and vitamin E (reviewed by Bouayed & Bohn, 2010).

  • Because the pixel vectors connecting with each other are the priority, these uncovered pixel vectors usually have the judgment upon the distance difference with the connected regions conducted to carry out region growing. It is the major reason why CSF is covered by GM and eroded. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the pixel vector, simultaneously calculate the distance difference with all the regions, and grow it into one of the regions with the minimum difference.

  • By the early 1980s, mer- chandising was added to the mix, so tie-ins with fast-food chains, automo- bile companies, and lines of toys and apparel could keep selling the movie. Scripts that lent themselves to mass marketing had a better chance of being acquired, and screenwriters were encouraged to incorporate special effects. Unlike studio-era productions, the megapicture could lead a robust afterlife on a soundtrack album, on cable channels, and on videocassette. By the mid-1980s, once overseas income and ancillaries were reckoned in, few films lost money....

  • Perceived quality of care is an important factor that determines whether people choose to utilise SRH services. Evidence from Bangladesh, Senegal and Tanzania suggests that in areas where women felt that they were receiving a high standard of care, they were more likely to use contraceptives than in areas with lower quality health facilities. Improving quality of care requires that patients’ perspectives and levels of satisfaction are taken into account when evaluating services, and are incorporated into policy decisions.

  • In addition to describing the design of the Gamma software, a thorough performance evaluation of the iPSC/2 hypercube version of Gamma is also presented. In addition to measuring the effect of relation size and indices on the response time for selection, join, aggregation, and update queries, we also analyze the performance of Gamma relative to the number of processors employed when the sizes of the input relations are kept constant (speedup) and when the sizes of the input relations are increased proportionally to the number of processors (scaleup).

DHS results show that in French-speaking African countries spousal communication about family planning is minimal. For example, the most recent Senegal DHS shows that only one-quarter of men who know about family planning discussed it with their wives even once in the year before the survey. Similarly, in Niger only one-quarter of husbands dis- cussed family planning with their wives during the previous year; and in Cameroon, only 39%. To stay healthy, partners must cooperate.
