Agile software development is a popular development process that continues to reshape philosophies on the connections between disciplined processes and agile practices. In Software Development Rhythms, authors Lui and Chan explain how adopting one practice and combining it with another builds upon the flexibility of agile practices to create a type of "synergy" defined as software development rhythms. The authors demonstrate how these rhythms can be harmonized to achieve synergies, making them stronger together than they would be apart.

Adaptor grammars (Johnson et al., 2007b) are a non-parametric Bayesian extension of Probabilistic Context-Free Grammars (PCFGs) which in effect learn the probabilities of entire subtrees. In practice, this means that an adaptor grammar learns the structures useful for generating the training data as well as their probabilities. We present several different adaptor grammars that learn to segment phonemic input into words by modeling different linguistic properties of the input.
On April 6, 1998, the creation of Citigroup through the combination of
Citicorp and Travelers Inc. was announced to the general applause of
analysts and financial pundits. The “merger of equals” created the world’s
largest financial services firm—largest in market value, product range,
and geographic scope. Management claimed that strict attention to the
use of capital and rigorous control of costs (a Travelers specialty) could
be combined with Citicorp’s uniquely global footprint and retail banking
franchise to produce uncommonly good revenue and cost synergies.

The supply chain is composed of all the parts of the enterprise
and its associated trading partners. The Lean Green Supply Chain is
made up of two major components: external and internal. There is a
synergy between these two parts. The internal savings can, in some
cases, be equal to the external supply chain savings. To exclude the
internal improvements that supplement the productivity of the External

a. Synergy occurs when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. When applied to mergers, a synergistic merger occurs when the postmerger earnings exceed the sum of the separate companies' premerger earnings.

Since the CDM was defined at COP3 in Kyoto 1997, it took the international
community another 4 years to reach the Marrakech Accords in which the modalities and procedures to implement the CDM was elaborated. Since the second edition of this guidebook published in June 2004 the CDM has developed very rapidly. This third edition of the guidebook is featuring recent developments within the CDM.
The CDM market has witnessed dramatic progress in the past few months, with more than
1,700 projects in the pipeline by March 2007. However, CDM project development still faces
barriers that prevent a much larger potential expansion in the number of CDM projects worldwide.
Many project developers identify lack of access to financing as one of the key reasons why
numerous CDM project concepts never materialise. This has been the case especially for Africa
and for other parts of the developing world.
It is our pleasure to present this special volume on tissue engineering in the
series Advances in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. This volume
reflects the emergence of tissue engineering as a core discipline of modern
biomedical engineering, and recognizes the growing synergies between the
technological developments in biotechnology and biomedicine. Along this
vein, the focus of this volume is to provide a biotechnology driven perspective
on cell engineering fundamentals while highlighting their significance in producing

The railway community is therefore working hard to provide customers with comprehensive
information on climate change, air pollution and the ‘external costs’ of transport.
New internet-based tools, such as EcoPassenger and EcoTransIT (see Figure 6), are
making a range of data available to customers.
