The Slovak National Cleaner Production Centre is composed of a non-profit organization and a business enterprise thereby enabling the centre to work effectively in delivering value-adding services to businesses and acting as a public advocate for Cleaner Production, while at the same time retaining the added value from close collaboration and joint efforts.
CENTRE IN BRIEF The Slovak NCPC was established in 1994, originally as part of the National Industrial Association, and then as a separate not-for-profit independent civic association.
The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) is the specialty
society for physicians that focus on infertility. The organization has a Practice
Committee that issues regular reports, including guidelines on minimal
standards for providing ART, informed consent, and on the number of
embryos to be transferred in IVF procedures. The guidelines are distributed
to all members of ASRM, are published in the Society's journal, Fertility and
Sterility, and are available to the public on ASRM's website (www.asrm.org).
The cordial co-operation of many amateur and professional astronomers
in the very successful observations of the Solar Eclipse of January 1, 1889, has again brought
forward the desirability of organizing an Astronomical Society of the Pacific, in order
that this pleasant and close association may not be lost, either as a scientific or as a social
force. You are respectfully invited to become a member of this organization, and to do your
part towards making it useful in our community.
Project managers often run into problems because they try to assign tasks rather than areas of responsibility.
In the belief that a highly structured, organized form of management is the only key to project success, they
may overlook the need of team members to be given a share of the job, instead of just being told what to do.
Scheduling and the giving out of assignments cannot be separated from one another. They are part of the same
process of defining areas of responsibility. The person who is given responsibility for a range of duties may
be told what to do; or he or she...
The skill requirements will vary with the size, complexity and
maturity of the organization. In organizations that are mostly run by
volunteers there is often a need for practical, hard-working, hands-
on people who are actively involved in the organization’s activities.
However, it is also important that the directors understand, or are
willing to learn about governance and their role in looking at the
bigger picture and in guiding the organization’s strategy.
The House Agriculture Committee held hearings in spring 2010 to review agricultural policy
ahead of the next farm bill debate. Comments on crops insurance surfaced as farmers, academics,
other panelists, and members discussed the farm safety net and the role of crop insurance.
Previously, in spring 2009, the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk
Management of the House Agriculture Committee held a hearing to receive input on the crop
insurance program from farmers.
New members have to buy their books or borrow them from older members of the
bank. They should pay an entrance fee and start bringing their weekly mandatory
savings to the bank meetings. New members are not eligible for loans until they have
attended four bank meetings and saved four times. Because their savings are small,
their loans will be small at first and so will their dividends.
If the village bank grows to 35 members and still more women want to join, the group
should help the new women form their own village bank. Once membership grows...
When an item is published to a Semantic Bank, tags assigned to it are carried along. As a conse-
quence, the bank’s members pool together not only the information items they have collected but
also their organization schemes applied on those items.
The technique of pooling together keywords has recently gained popularity through services
such as del.icio.us , Flickr , and CiteULike as a means for a community to collab-
oratively build over time a taxonomy for the data they share.
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Presented in this document are requirements for design, inspection, and certification of ground-based pressure vessels and pressurized systems (PV/S) owned and/or operated by JSC and of all PV/S used on JSC property. JSC organizations must implement these requirements on PV/S for which they have the responsibility.
This applies to all PV/S used on JSC property.
Comments and questions concerning this document should be directed to the JSC Pressure Systems Manager, mail code NS2, member of the Safety and Test Operations Division....
Humans (Homo sapiens), the only living members of the genus Homo, are mammals of the primate order originally from Africa, where they reached anatomical modernity about 200,000 years ago and began to exhibit full behavioral modernity around 50,000 years ago.
The human lineage diverged from its last common ancestor with the chimpanzee some 5 million years ago in Africa, evolving into the Australopithecines and eventually the genus Homo.
And thus White Rabbit perfectly
described the plight of the modern
worker. Do you feel like him at times: always
running here and there, never at
ease, stomach in knots, frequently late?
“You’re going to be late for your own funeral!”
Ever had a coworker, family member,
or friend toss that one at you?
“But someday,” you think, “this will be
different. I’ll be on time for appointments
and with reports. I’ll get enough sleep and
eat three squares a day. Everyone will be
so impressed with my efficiency—my
sparkling office and clear desk.
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Guidelines are
technical reference documents with general and industry-
specific examples of Good International Industry Practice
(GIIP) 1. When one or more members of the World Bank Group
are involved in a project, these EHS Guidelines are applied as
required by their respective policies and standards. These
industry sector EHS guidelines are designed to be used
together with the General EHS Guidelines document, which
provides guidance to users on common EHS issues potentially
applicable to all industry sectors.
Knowledge transfer within an organization may be
thought of as the process by which an organization
makes available knowledge about routines to its
members, and is a common phenomenon that can
be an effective way for organizations to extend
knowledge bases and leverage unique skills in a
relatively cost-effective manner. With the increasing
resource-based focus in strategy research,
knowledge and ways to develop and leverage it
have become key strategic issues (Barney, 1991;
Ecology studies interactions among organisms and between organisms
and their environment in nature and is also concerned
with the effects that organisms have on the inanimate environment.
It is concerned with not only what kind of air a species
must have but also what effect that species has on the air.
This book is not an elementary ecology textbook. A textbook
would be longer and more didactic.
CHAPTER 15 Financial Management
After completing this chapter, you should be able to answer the following questions:
Why is cost consciousness important to all members of an organization? How are costs determined to be committed or discretionary?
Open car-sharing organizations in Sweden today have some 2000 members and have about
200 cars at their disposal. It has been estimated that approximately 870,000 households could
be incorporated into such organizations. If large-scale use of car-sharing is to be achieved
during the next 10 years, encompassing say 10 % of the potential, the systematic recruitment
of members to existing pools, particularly in large cities, will be needed.
Conservators have many specializations, from paintings to works of art on paper to photography,
and more. Those who specialize in outdoor sculpture also have subspecialties (bronze, stone,
wood, and so forth). Begin by locating several people whose skills and experience are comparable
and appear to match your needs. Professional qualifications are always the most important
criterion. Geographic proximity is helpful but not necessary.
Speed of hardware, NICs (network interface cards), operating systems, logging configurations,
network bandwidth, load balancing and many other factors must also go into benchmark
requirements. One may have two identical server environments with two very different EPS
requirements due to any or all of these and other variables. With consideration of these vari-
ables, EPS can be established for normal and peak usage times.
Every organization should make sure that its board members know
and understand what it expects from them as not-for-profit directors.
It is not enough to put people on a board and expect them to do the
right thing. Even if they have previous board experience, they need
to know how things are done in this particular organization and the
extent to which they will be expected to participate in operating
activities in addition to their governance role.
