A city guide web site can use maps to show the location of restaurants, museums, and art venues. A business can post a map for reaching its offices. The state government can present a map showing average income by area. Developers who want to publish maps on the web often discover that commercial tools cost too much and hunting down the free tools scattered across Internet can use up too much of your time and resources....

  • For centuries the human race has noted and recorded for the following purposes: memory; communication; problem solving and analysis; creative thinking; and summarisation, etc. The techniques that have been used to do this include sentences, lists, lines, words, analysis, logic, linearity, numbers, and monotonic (one colour) usage. Good though some of these systems seemed, they have all used what you know to be the dominantly 'left cortical' thought modalities.

  • Designed to help you use more of your brainpower with less effort, an idea map is a colorful visual representation of a particular issue, problem, or idea among other applications on a single piece of paper. Our brains are much better at absorbing, processing, and remembering information presented in the form of an idea map as opposed to information presented in a multi-linear document.

  • Using the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method for multi-index evaluation has special advantages, while the use of geographic information systems (GIS) is suitable for spatial analysis. Combining AHP with GIS provides an effective approach for studies of mineral potential mapping evaluation. Selection of potential areas for exploration is a complex process in which many diverse criteria are to be considered.

  • Up to present, in Vietnam, the traditional methods used to map marine bathymetry are still very popular. These techniques have advantages of giving a high accuracy but still show big disadvantages of taking too much time for the data acquisition and processing and of being very expensive for the field works. Compensated to these cons the remote sensing technique seems to be an ideal solution since the images covers almost places on the earth with very high frequency (hours) of acquisition and served with a reasonable price even some of them can be downloaded from the internet for...

  • We consider the problem of learning context-dependent mappings from sentences to logical form. The training examples are sequences of sentences annotated with lambda-calculus meaning representations. We develop an algorithm that maintains explicit, lambda-calculus representations of salient discourse entities and uses a context-dependent analysis pipeline to recover logical forms. The method uses a hidden-variable variant of the perception algorithm to learn a linear model used to select the best analysis.

  • The first step in most empirical work in multilingual NLP is to construct maps of the correspondence between texts and their translations ( b i t e x t m a p s ) . The Smooth Injective Map Recognizer (SIMR) algorithm presented here is a generic pattern recognition algorithm that is particularly well-suited to mapping bitext correspondence. SIMR is faster and significantly more accurate than other algorithms in the literature. The algorithm is robust enough to use on noisy texts, such as those resulting from OCR input, and on translations that are not very literal. SIMR encapsulates its...
