  • In 1998, it was first reported that a silica material with large, uniform mesopores arranged into a two-demensional hexagonal structure is synthesized using triblock copolymer and oligomer templates poly (ethylene oxide), (EO)n. This silica was denoted SBA-15. Up to now, it is believed that ordered mesopores of SBA-15 are connected through complementary pores (microporores and small mesopores) in the siliceous pore walls. SBA-15 can be readily synthesized using cheap materials and it shows attractive structural properties, very good hydrothemal stability.
