Based on original fieldwork in Eastern Indonesia, the book explores the complex factors that affect how young Indonesian women form their sexual subjectivities.
The transparency of the body beneath the drapery is a clear reference point to the
female reclining figures from the Parthenon pediment sculptures. This is obvious in
Albert Moore’s Beads (1875), which depicts two young women reclining asleep in
different positions on a soft fabric bench with their legs, breasts, nipples and small
folds of their stomachs clearly visible beneath their white diaphanous Greek clothes.

This work was begun, soon after the appearance of the Young Man's Guide--and was partially announced to the public. For reasons, however, which I have not room to give in this place, it was thought proper to defer its publication till the appearance of several other volumes in the same spirit, involving more particularly the relative duties. I wish to have it distinctly understood, that I do not propose to give a complete manual of the social and moral duties of young women. Every one has his own way of looking at things, and I have mine. ...

and pathologically, treating also of childbirth, written in language easily understood by a layman. He desires
to give copies to some of his young women patients. The editor regrets there is no satisfactory book on the
subject although there is great need for one."
It is a lamentable fact that the majority of women and girls are ignorant of the structure of their most

Military manpower policy is often crafted by policymakers without an in-depth understanding of the life experiences and views of junior enlisted personnel. It is plausible to expect that some policymakers attribute the attitudes and experiences of these young soldiers to such features as youth or lack of an advanced education

Kenya will utilize existing resources and build upon a variety of agency programs to increase health
systems strengthening, to integrate health service provision and to create demand for services. The

The great Australian swimmer, Annette Kellerman, student at the University of Wisconsin, planted the first seed of what was to become synchronized swimming when she performed a water ballet in a glass tank in New York in 1907. Katherine Curtis, an American woman, was very inspired by the new water sport. So she tried to get synchronized swimming added to the physical education programme for female students. In 1923 she founded a water ballet club at the University of Chicago and sixty swimmers of the club attracted national and international publicity.
`Now you've got nothing to worry about, my dear,' he said, `except to get
back your health and strength. I don't say anything about your looks because
nothing affects them. You're a young woman and a very pretty one, and I have no
doubt you'll marry again. But don't marry for love next time; it's a mistake; marry
for position and companionship.'
She laughed. She had had a bitter experience and had no intention then of

This session aims to benefit from the presence of both gender and development cooperation experts. Participants are
encouraged to reflect on the above issues in the context of a world faced with new challenges and a rapidly changing
