  2. Outline • Introduction • Research Methodology • Descriptive Results and Findings • Results and findings of hypothesis test • Project Evaluation • Conclusions and Recommendations
  3. INTRODUCTION • Reason for research: The method FMT using to distribute the textbooks and outlines to students is not as effective as we expected. • Objective: Instead of printing books for students , FMT can post the e-books of all textbooks and outlines in the semester into the faculty’s website
  4. INTRODUCTION (cont) • Research question: • Do FMT students find this method more convenient? • Is this method work effective if we applied it? • For the FMT students who didn’t buy books from FMT, will this new way bring the benefits to them?
  5. METHODOLOGY 1. Population 425 FMT students course 08 374 FMT students course 09 799 students 2. Questionnaire 5 Y/N questions
  6. METHODOLOGY (cont) 3. Sample size and sampling method n = 60 • Random sampling method using Excel =INT(RAND()*799) • Delivering questionnaire
  7. METHODOLOGY (cont) 4. Data processing Excel software was used to support the job and calculate the complex statistics 5. Significant level We chose α =5%.
  8. DESCRITIVE RESULTSand Findings Descriptive Results AND FINDINGS Figure 1: The amount of money students have each month 29% 24% 30 20% 18% 20 3% 10 6% 0 00 0 0 0 00 00 00 00 00 ,0 ,0 0,0 0, 0, 0, 00 00 50 00 50 50 1,0 2,5 1, 2, 2, < 0- 0- 0- 0- > 00 00 00 00 0, 0, 0, 0, 50 00 50 00 1, 1, 2,

  10. DESCRITIVE RESULTS AND FINDINGS (cont) Firgure 3: The percentage of students running out of money 39% Yes 61% No
  11. DESCRITIVE RESULTS AND FINDINGS (cont) 25% 24% 24% 20% 4% 3%
  12. HYPOTHESIS TEST • Z-test for σ unknown, normal or not normal population, sample size n ≥ 30 • Approximation Method for grouped data:
  13. HYPOTHESIS TEST (cont)
  14. HYPOTHESIS TEST (cont) • Calculating the mean and standard variance of sample
  15. HYPOTHESIS TEST (cont) Using z-test: • H0: µ = 860,000 • Ha: µ > 860,000 • Significant level: α = 0.05 • Decision rule: Critical value: z0.05 ≈ 1.645 Reject H0 if z >1.645
  16. HYPOTHESIS TEST (cont) • The values of z • z = 3.385 > 1.96, we reject H0 • Conclusion: enough evidence to infer that the average spending of students exceed the government’s subsidy
  17. PROJECT EVALUATION 1. Limitation - Unspecific answer 2. Implication - New policy - Financial management
  18. CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION 1. Conclusion - Government’s subsidy is not enough - Get more from parents 2. Recommendation - Raising subsidy (if possible) - Getting more money from partime job
  19. •Thanks for your  listening
