The article presents the graphical analysis of economic indicators for 25 countries: GDP growth rate (%) and GDP per person employed (thousand US dollars) for the period from 1990 to 2016 by considering the supply chain strategy (SCS) and transparency. The authors carried out the decomposition of economic growth rates of selected countries according to the following factors: 1) extensive factors – the growth rate of the capital stock and the size of labor force; 2) intensive factors – R&D expenditures; 3) the dynamics of foreign direct investment in the country 4) supply chain strategy.

The triangulated data results are surprisingly revealing in many essential aspects of vocabulary instruction, ranging from selecting vocabulary, teaching vocabulary directly and indirectly, explaining vocabulary meanings, teaching vocabulary through skills in various teaching phases in class. Hopefully, the findings of the study have provided an insightful understanding of vocabulary teaching practices in the primary school settings in Vietnam. From these empirical findings, relevant implications are suggested for better vocabulary instruction to young learners in Vietnam.

In recent years, optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OOFDM) has emerged as a dominant research and development area in the field of high-speed optical communications. OFDM is a potential candidate as the most promising next-generation optical networks such as passive optical networks and optical transport networks, due to their simple configuration based on low cost, high speed data rates, high spectral efficiency, high quality of service and robustness against narrow band interference, frequency selective fading, and chromatic dispersion.

A novel plasmid vector pSELECT-1 is described which can be used for highly efficient site-directed in vitro mutagenesis. The mutagenesis method is based on the use of single-stranded DNA and two primers, one mutagenic primer and a second correction primer which corrects a defect in the ampicillin resistance gene on the vector and reverts the vector to ampicillin resistance. Using T4 DNA polymerase and T4 DNA ligase the two primers are physically linked on the template. The non-mutant DNA strand is selected against by growth in the presence of ampicillin.

The (ba)8-barrel is the most common enzyme fold and it is capable of cata-lyzing an enormous diversity of reactions. It follows that this scaffold should be an ideal starting point for engineering novel enzymes by directed evolution. However, experiments to date have utilized in vivo screens or selections and the compatibility of (ba)8-barrels with in vitro selection methods remains largely untested.

This study describes the construction of a library of single-chain antibody fragments (scFvs) from a single human donor by individual amplification of all heavy and light variable domains (1.1·10 8 recombinants). The lib-rary was panned using the phage display technique, which allowed selection of specific scFvs (3F and C1) capable of recognizing Cn2, the major toxic component of Centruroides noxiusscorpion venom.

A highly purified cytochromeb6f complex from the cyanobacterium Syn-echocystissp. PCC 6803 selectively binds one chlorophyll a and one caro-tenoid in analogy to the recent published structure from two other b6 f complexes. The unknown function of these pigments was elucidated by spectroscopy and site-directed mutagenesis. Low-temperature redox differ-ence spectroscopy showed red shifts in the chlorophyll and carotenoid spec-tra upon reduction of cytochrome b6, which indicates coupling of these pigments with the heme groups and thereby with the electron transport....

Three protein factors IF1, IF2 and IF3 are involved in the initiation of translation in prokaryotes. No clear function has been assigned to the smallest of these three factors, IF1. Therefore, to investigate the role of this protein in the initi-ation process inEscherichia coliwe have mutated the cor-responding gene infA. Because IF1 is essential for cell viability and no mutant selection has so far been described, the infA gene in a plasmid was mutated by site-directed mutagenesis in a strain with a chromosomalinfA + gene, followedbydeletionof thisinfA + gene.

Antimicrobial peptides participate in innate host defense by directly elimi-nating pathogens as a result of their ability to damage the microbial mem-brane and by providing danger signals that will recruit innate immune cells to the site of infection. Dermaseptin DA4 (DRS-DA4), a new antimicrobial peptide of the dermaseptin superfamily, was identified based on its chemo-tactic properties, contrasting with the currently used microbicidal proper-ties assessment.

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a widely used polymer employed to increase the circulating half-life of proteins in blood and to decrease their immuno-genicity and antigenicity. PEG attaches to free amines, typically at lysine residues or at the N-terminal amino acid. This lack of selectivity can pres-ent problems when a PEGylated protein therapeutic is being developed, because predictability of activity and manufacturing reproducibility are needed for regulatory approval.

As a means of reaching the masses, no other medium today has the unique creative ability of television. Broadcast TV grew faster than any previous advertising medium because of the unique advantages it offered advertisers: mass coverage at efficient cost, impact, prestige, and social dominance. Television is a powerful creative tool, but the medium still has many drawbacks, including high actual cost, limited selectivity, brevity, clutter, and susceptibility to zipping and zapping.

roductoin managers perform the classic functions of management: planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. They also have to keep up with changing technology, monitor costs, and meet budgets. The five most common are inadequate planning and preparation, production, prepass and printing, and distribution. There are four important concepts when selecting type: readability, appropriateness, harmony or appearance, and emphasis. A key is copy casting, knowing ow to fit type into a particular space in a layout....
