Comparison of models

This study provides comparative findings on the impact of adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) on the value relevance of reported accounting and non-accounting information in a set of six countries with a British accounting heritage but divergent harmonization paths leading up to IFRS adoption. The countries included in the sample are the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and South Africa.

The substrate specificity of the nuclear inclusion protein a (NIa) proteolytic enzymes from two potyviruses, the tobacco etch virus (TEV) and tobacco vein mottling virus (TVMV), was compared using oligopeptide substrates. NAD + -dependent (R)-2-hydroxyglutarate dehydrogenase (HGDH) cata-lyses the reduction of 2-oxoglutarate to (R)-2-hydroxyglutarate and belongs to the D-2-hydroxyacid NAD + -dependent dehydrogenase (D-2-hydroxyacid dehydrogenase) protein family. Its crystal structure was determined by phase combination to 1.98 A˚ resolution. Structure–function relationships obtained by the comparison of HGDH with other members of theD-2-hydroxyacid dehydrogenase family give a chemically satisfying view of the substrate stereoselectivity and catalytic requirements for the hydride trans-fer reaction.

An homology model of human P-glycoprotein, based on the X-ray struc-ture of the recently resolved mouse P-glycoprotein, is presented. The model corresponds to the inward-facing conformation competent for drug binding. From the model, the residues involved in the protein-binding cav-ity are identified and compared with those in the outward-facing confor-mation of human P-glycoprotein developed previously based on the Sav1866 structure.
