  • This research focuses on the observer-based controller of a balancing robot. Firstly, the dynamic model of the robot is inferred. The uncertainty of the model parameters is then introduced as constraints in state space. Practically, it is very difficult to measure state variables as velocity and acceleration.

  • Determination of the local void fraction in BWRs from in-core neutron noise measurements requires the knowledge of the axial velocity of the void. The purpose of this paper is to revisit the problem of determining the axial void velocity profile from the transit times of the void between axially placed detectors, determined from in-core neutron noise measurements.

  • This paper presents the research results of theoretical model and numerical model of the washed-out process of alkylphenols in the late stage of water injection. The research results have proposed approximate analytical expression for concentration of alkylphenols at the late stage of water flooding. In this regard, at the sufficient large injection volume the alkylphenol concentration attenuates exponentially and the attenuation rate depends on parameters such as partitioning coefficient, oil saturation and interstitial velocity of water and oil and diffusion coefficients.

  • The PC-SAFT equation of state (EoS) combined with the free-volume theory (FVT) recently proposed (DOI: 10.1016/j.fluid.2019. 112280) is extended in this work to simultaneously predict viscosity and some second-order derivative properties such as sound velocity and isobaric heat capacity of some petroleum and refinery gases. The PC-SAFT pure component parameters are obtained by providing the optimal description of its vapour pressure and saturated liquid density data.

  • The subsurface stormflow is considered as the fast moving component of subsurface runoff of which only a little information is available due to its complex mechanism of movement through subsurface. Hence, this study has taken up for absorbing more knowledge on the phenomenon of subsurface stormflow with the help of tracer method. The experiment has carried out on an experimental plot in the KCAET campus, Kerala, India.

  • In hydrologic studies rainfall and soil system are two important considerations. It is always desirable to conduct these studies under field conditions in order to represent actual conditions. Rainfall simulation offers a viable alternative to conduct hydrologic studies under controlled conditions. Various types of rainfall simulators are already available for this purpose, but most of them are fixed type and can be used in a laboratory. In such studies a tilting flume filled with soil is used as the test plot.

  • This angle is considered as a harmonic oscillation function around the equilibrium position that is the initial angle of impact, and its angular frequency equals of the rivulet and the cable. The amplitude of impact angle of wind depends on wind velocity, initial position and that of rivulet. The assumption is verified by comparison with experimental results. The effects of rivulet oscillation components and aerodynamic forces are also discussed in this paper.

  • This paper presents an experimental study of adhesive and rheological properties of cement mortars proportioned with various contents of a water-soluble polymer admixture. To determine the adhesive properties the probe tack test was used. The results have been exploited to identify the adhesion strength, the cohesion strength and the support’ adherence force. It is found that the cohesion component displays a minimum when varying the polymer content. The behavior of the adherence force is more complex.

  • HD 163296 is one of the few protoplanetary discs displaying rings in the dust component. The present work uses ALMA observations of the 0.9 mm continuum emission, which have significantly better spatial resolution (~8 au) than previously available, to provide new insight into the morphology of the dust disc and its double ring structure. The disc is shown to be thin, and its position angle and inclination with respect to the sky plane are accurately measured as are the locations and shapes that characterise the observed ring-gap structure.

  • The change in those two parameters is caused by and is in dependent function of the inlet spectrum. There has been discussed a two-component flow of air and gas in ventilation devices. A two-velocity scheme of flow is used to realise the numerical method. An integral method of investigation is used, based on the conditions of conservation of mass contents, quantity of motion and kinetic energy. It's been accepted that quantity of motion and energy change in function of inlet action.

  • In this paper, the uphill and osmotic diffusion in single component systems (single uphill and osmotic diffusion) are presented and simulated. Results showed that: The uphill and osmotic diffusion can take place for single component systems; the cause of single uphill and osmotic diffusion is thermal velocity of molecules in low concentration region is greater than that in high concentration region; simulated results agree with the theory.

  • Gate valves are available with a variety of disks. Classification of gate valves is usually made by the type disk used: solid wedge, flexible wedge, split wedge, or parallel disk. Solid wedges, flexible wedges, and split wedges are used in valves having inclined seats. Parallel disks are used in valves having parallel seats. Regardless of the style of wedge or disk used, the disk is usually replaceable.

  • Having discussed individual components of industrial servo drives from an operation point of view and a mathematical descriptive point of view, the next step is to combine these components into a block diagram for the complete servo drive. The block diagram is a powerful method of system analysis. In the block diagram each component in a servo system can be described by the ratio of its output to input. Thus the output of one component is the input to the next component.
