What are the key aspects to achieving acceptable usability outcomes for information systems being developed? The changing technologies and increased usage across the general population, the impacts of this in our everyday lives, at work and at leisure are exponentially increasing. The interfaces and interaction styles presented as part of these technologies have been challenged to be more intuitive, contextually sensitive, location aware, human centred and aimed at a larger community of stakeholders.

In recent years, optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OOFDM) has emerged as a dominant research and development area in the field of high-speed optical communications. OFDM is a potential candidate as the most promising next-generation optical networks such as passive optical networks and optical transport networks, due to their simple configuration based on low cost, high speed data rates, high spectral efficiency, high quality of service and robustness against narrow band interference, frequency selective fading, and chromatic dispersion.

In this study, we provide a greatly improved precision of estimations using the LISE code by evaluating the energy loss straggling of the alpha particles at 5.486 MeV in Tb, Ta, and Au materials. After comparing with the observables, it was found that the ratio of the energy loss straggling computed by the LISE code to that measured in experiments has a fairly large range of 1.5 - 3.0.

In this paper, the subproblem method with using edge finite elements is proposed for coupling subproblems via several steps to treat and deal with some troubles regarding to electromagnetic problems that gets quite difficulties when directly applying a finite element method. In the strategy subproblem method, it allows a complete problem to define into several subproblems with adapted dimensions. Each subproblem can be solved on its independent domain and mesh without performing in whole domain or mesh. This easily supports meshing and decreases computing time.

Conventional topology optimization approaches are implemented in an implicit manner with a very large number of design variables, requiring large storage and computation costs. In this study, an explicit topology optimization approach is proposed by moving polygonal morphable voids whose geometry parameters are considered as design variables.

The modeling and numerical simulation of mass transport in porous media is discussed in this work by using the so-called pore size distribution for computing transport properties. The pore-size distribution is a property of the pore structure of a porous medium. This can be used to estimate the different transport properties, amongst other, the permeability. By starting with a formula for the absolute permeability, the simulation of water and oil transport in reservoirs is considered by solving mass conservation equations with the help of the control volume method.

Problems of machine translation have been investigated in the Soviet Union since 1955.1 A number of groups are carrying out theoretical and experimental work in the area of machine translation. In the Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Technology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (ITM and VT) dictionaries and codes of rules (algorithms) have been compiled for machine translation from English, Chinese, and Japanese into Russian; and a GermanRussian algorithm is being worked out.
